Car Dealerships are Scum (Edited with Dealership)

I know that's not new
So my wife's current vehicle needs a repair that exceeds the value of the vehicle. After contacting several dealers once we found the vehicle she liked we negotiated a price and got them to send the breakdown from Price to Tax and Title to get the total. Once the vehicle arrived last week we put down a deposit that day like the vehicle wasn't even inspected yet. Wife (no pics) is a night shift worker and started her rotation and we agreed to finalize everything tomorrow (Wednesday). Well turns out the bastards sold the vehicle and want to start negotiations over on a different vehicle that we didn't want. I'm just pissed because now I have to go to a bank to cancel the check and now we're really starting from square one. I want to put the dealership but I'm trying not get this whacked.
EDIT: Ralph Sellers Hyundai in Gonzales on Airline

Dude, walk. I work at a dealership (parts, not sales) and I usually take up for them, but if this went down exactly as you say, find another dealer. Why would you want to do business with them now anyway?

Post the dealerships name. They need to start being exposed. There are some decent ones and some slime balls out there.

Post it. We’ll order a bunch of pizzas for them to tomorrow compliments of the OT.

The old bait and switch.
Happened to me at Gerry Lane. Went in to finish the deal on a car that was on lot.
Lo and behold, there was another couple two cubes down buying the exact same truck.

String them along for a little bit and tell them to frick off when they think the transaction is about to be completed

Hate dealing with stealerships and this is the second time I've heard of your issue. Of course, the different vehicle is a better choice and naturally a better "deal". Hope you'll end up with a good vehicle shopping elsewhere.

did you get your deposit back? also, you should pretend to negotiate for a new vehicle and demand they give you a deposit this time.

For every bad story that comes out, there are many other good ones.
I have bought 4 or 5 different vehicles from Ralph Sellers.
Marty Mitchell that runs the Hyundai store next door to the Ram one sold me my first crane service truck when I went into business for myself.
He has always been nothing short of amazing.
Even when I had to go out of state during covid to buy something I needed, they still serviced it just like they sold it.
Maybe it was a misunderstanding? I have no affiliation with Ralph Sellers, other than being a many time repeat customer.

No, I have to get the check # and do whatever I gotta do to kill the check. I literally found this out maybe 90 mins ago from my wife.

I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience with Ralph sellers Hyundai. I have purchased two vehicles from them, my father has purchased a vehicle from them as well. All 3 transactions went smooth.
In fact the last vehicle I bought was during the vehicle shortage of 2021 - put a deposit down on a vehicle that had not yet arrived ( had to wait 3 months) - but even doing that the transaction went smooth

The Chevy dealer tried to frick my dad out of $500 on his Silverado he bought. They buried a tire and rim warranty in the finance docs. He didn’t realize it until he got home and looked over the paperwork. Never mentioned it to him and he was adamant he didn’t want any extra warranties. He brought the truck back handed the sales guy the keys and said void the sale the next morning. They freaked out and cut him a check for the $500 plus gave him free oil changes for 5 years.

lol, apparently this is a common tactic for them.
We bought a Palisade back in 2020. During COVID they were a hot item and selling above MSRP and difficult to find. They were selling at MSRP and had the one we wanted coming in.
Agreed to terms, put down deposit, and waited for vehicle. A week or so later we find out the vehicle is coming in Friday. On Friday we call to find out what’s going, and learn they sold Palisade to somebody else who saw it arrive (could have been pre-planned, IDK).
Considering how hard they were to find, I was PISSED. Salesman told me “Chill bro, we got another one coming in a week”.
I was pissed this was my only option (available, and not $5k over MSRP). It did come in a few days later and we picked it up.

Funny how those misunderstandings always put the dealership with more $$ than the deal they took someone's earnest for.
