How big is your family?

We went last summer. 3 Bedroom condo for 4 nights was around $2700 in the phoenix X. My parents and sister came with Wife, kid and I, so I split the payment 50/50 with parents.

We probably spent $400-$500 on a grocery haul for the week at Publix.

Walked over to Flora-Bama had a few drinks one night and had a nice dinner the last night. Rented Jet Ski's one day. We don't go out to eat every night of vacation. I'd say we spent less than $1000 on extra stuff aside from the room and beach and had a great time.

me, wife and 3 kids. MIL lives with us and usually goes though

yea i said its possible but between your 500 grocery haul, your 1 night out to dinner, your 2700 on the room, 300 on gas, plus jet skis....you spent over 3500 if you were not splitting it

i dont think it would be good to have my parents, my sister, plus her kids, my family etc all in a 3 bedroom place unless we want to be on top of one another

I said early its certainly possible to do under 3500 but it requires splitting the condo with another family or not being on the beach and then requires eating in almost every meal and very very little entertainment besides the beach.

That's fine if that's what you like, but Roger loves to judge others, especially when it comes to how they spend money.

personally not my thing. would rather have my own condo on the beach, go to dinner most nights, go walk around and shop during the day when it gets stupid hot, grab some lunch and maybe some ice cream....go play golf with my kids, go off shore some, parasail, jet skis etc

i dont wanna wake up cook breakfast, go to the beach, go back to the condo eat lunch and nap, then go back then go cook, then go take them out to hunt crabs every single day and night for 5 days straight. On top of that cleaning dishes, cleaning the condo, washing and folding clothes......doesnt sound like a vacation to me

I draw the line at having to lug a bunch of heavy shite out each day. Why the gulf coast doesn't have more full service resorts with pool/beach service is beyond me. We've paid to do a panhandle vacation exactly 1 time in the 12+ years we've been together.

I couldn't tell you the price of condos these days, but I know last time we priced it out it was the same price as the trip we had recently done where we flew to Chicago and ate in restaurants the entire time.

Admittedly, a beach condo is probably more "per head" when you're just 2 people versus splitting it up with a big family. I definitely could see it being economical if you have a big group and you're cooking.

True, but if we weren't splitting it, I would have gotten a smaller place.

This is where I disagree. If I go to the beach, I'm going to relax. Meaning I'm going get a morning then sitting my arse in the sand or by the pool and reading a book with a few drinks most days.

The last day we typically reserve for shopping, eating out, water park, etc.

I don’t understand how people do this shite for 7 days as their only vacation
