I was 7 and went to World’s Fair also. I remember this section across river with bumper boats and stuff catered to kids.
Saturday morning cartoons, seasonal soccer, basketball, and baseball leagues, playing Atari, my Frogger game on watch (helped pass time on bus, and riding bikes with friends in neighborhood.

I was 6, running around with my Dukes of Hazzard metal lunch box and watching The Beastmaster.

i was 18 and had just started college and yep, we went to the NOLA World's Fair but I was at the age where it was awkward being around my parents.
damn i'd give anything to have a few minutes back with my dad. why are we such awful people when we're teenagers?

Freshman in high school in GA. Listening to Van Halen, going to mall on the weekends to play video games and nailing some sick tricks on my Haro Sport.

hell yes it was...I know I'm biased but what perfect timing. Got to experience a childhood without the internet and hit teenage years as the internet was catching stride. Our childhood straddled two very different eras
Exactly. We were the last kids to grow up without cellphones

1st year in my profession, had season tickets to the Dallas Cowboys, first son was born, bought my 71 Jensen Interceptor, went to some great concerts, taught a college class, sponsored a sorority and a fraternity ...
it was not a bad year at all.

Where were you in 1984?
I was a junior in high school in BR. I was 16/17 years old.

I specifically picked this year because, in a thread I did awhile back here on the OT, many of you said that 1984 was the best year of the 80’s. 1984 was also 40 years ago, so I thought it would be appropriate also to pick that year in this regard.
1984 was great. We had just got cable vision and MTV was kicking arse. You could still buy great Japanese home stereo equipment and awesome car stereo equipment fairly cheap. Van Halen had just released their 1984 album. Rock music was great, though not as good as the 70's. The Mustang and Camaro was a very popular car for high school kids. You could still buy Honda 3 wheelers and by 84 there were 200cc versions. You could still buy bad arse 2 stroke dirt bikes. Reagan was President. I was chasing girls everyday after baseball practice. Man, how easy was life then.

I was 9. We mostly played backyard football, wiffleball, or basketball. Our other favorite past time was setting up ambushes to slaughter Soviet troops with our green plastic M-16s.
At night our family would eat at the dinner table and afterwards I’d take a swig or two of every beer my dad would send me to fetch for him.

5 years old...playing with my Masters of the Universe collection, watching Dukes of Hazard, Knight Rider, and USA Cartoon Express.
A memory a lot Baton Rouge folks might have too is of having of b-day parties on the training slope at the Back Packer and Leos Roller Rink

At college during school. Worked for my aunt's catering company in the summer. They were the official caterer for The World's Fair. I was there during the day and at night. One of the best summers I've ever had. Old fat black and hispanic woman just giving me food all the time.
