“The pool”. wow, what a luxurious amenity. nothing says wealth and opulence like a fricking community swimming pool lmao
Aw, it wasn't that bad. It was 90% kids there anyway, and we always had a shite ton of fun. I can see an adult sticking their nose up at it, but not the kids back then.

Used to ride my bike when I was like 10-12 years old from the Gail/Houston drive side of Bluebonnet all the way to the pool just about every day it was open. Played fast pitch softball at the park. Got my first “stinky” finger from a cute little girl named Kim at said park??

Crazy Charlie might have been the biggest LSU baseball fan ever. They tore down JT school, otherwise most of the area looks the same.

I grew up on Floynell Drive. Jefferson Terrace was pretty good in the 80's and 90's. What's it like now? That guy on Cal Road still have that DeLorean?
Azrok avenue baby! Late 70’s early 80’s. A damn good neighborhood. Lotta good childhood memories. My bicycle and skateboard knew every street in the place.

The huge field on Azrok was empty until 3/4 years ago when they built a school. Then this year they tore down Jefferson Terrace elementary and are building a new school.

Man that field stayed there for so long and I couldn’t figure out as a youngster why it never got developed. Played a heel of a lot of baseball and kickball there. (Soccer wasn’t cool back then). Sad to hear about the school being torn down.

Used to go there on my motorcycle, pick up a BBQ beef poboy, and a bottle of Barq's root beer. Ride to the park and sit at a picnic table to eat. Many a summertime lunch was spent like that. And I remember Charlie from way back then.

Remember those steaks they would sell at Ramers. Cheap and marinated and ready for the grill?

I never bought one, but I think my friends may have.
Back then, we could sit around at night and tell who was riding and where they were going in the neighborhood by the bike noise. There were some distinctive sounding motorcycles owned by the JT guys. It wasn't like today where you hear all the racing everywhere in town by bikes and Chargers. It was a much smaller group of guys.

Ramers had good chili dogs. Video Visions was a good video store. Easy to ride your bike there on a Saturday afternoon with a couple of friends and rent a couple of movies to watch that evening. Charlie was a harmless fellow. He’d stop by the park and watch us play baseball, just chattering away about some LSU game. He was always in his own little world.
Anyone remember the old barber shop by Ramers? The old timer who worked there said he might accidentally cut my ear off if I didn’t sit still.
