Seems the child was removed due to abuse/eating disorder more than the trans thing, but that would be harder to claim victimhood over.
Per your quoted article...
quote:
“The court emphasized that it was not removing A.C. from the parents’ home due to a disagreement or ‘a child having a certain lifestyle that the parent[s] don’t agree with.’ … ‘There ha[ve] always been issues’ when ‘children do things that the parents don’t agree with,’ the court explained, and those disagreements are ‘not a reason to remove a child from a home,’” according to the state’s brief.
So why was he removed? It stops short of saying the specific reason. According to the Fox article, the family sought treatment for both disorders PRIOR to the child being removed. What did they do wrong, exactly? How in the hell can you claim these people are trying to glamorize their "victimhood"?

because they stopped taking the kid to court ordered therapy and withdrew him from school

ETA: I see that was answered later in the thread

For someone who claims to be one of those worthless centrists, you sure as shite defend one side of the aisle a whole lot more often than the other.
Those who sit on the fence will eventually become impaled by it.

maybe theres a case here of an overzealous DCS employee and 2 biased courts, or maybe the parents aren't telling the entire story. I dont know, I'm not gonna just automatically assume the parents are saints and the courts were wrong.
It's just as likely that the parents were the cause of the kid turning crazy as anything.

First of all, court ordered therapy? Why is the court inserting an order on a family issue where no crime has been committed?

I admit I thought this was Fake News when I read about it, but...my God it's true. I would not think this is possible in the USA but there it is.

I can't even imagine telling my parents "refer to me as a girl and I am not joking"...

quote:Could both accounts be true?! Abuse and disorder were called in by the school because they made comments about killing themselves or not wanting to live. Court orders therapy. Court ordered therapy is re-affirming the identity and pushing the parent's beliefs as the main culprit. Parents remove child from school to homeschool or private school to get them away from the people who called CPS and out of an environment they see as fostering the behavior and stop going to therapy. Court removes child because kid is not in school and they stop going to therapy. So child wasn't technically removed for parents not affirming the gender, but parent's not affirming the gender is what caused the incident to begin with.
tells us why the kid was NOT removed but it doesn't tell us why the kid was removed?
I've had people I am close too have to jump through hoops over CPS investigations that were the subject of teen angst and hyperbole. It is very possible this all started because of teenage angst and spiraled when the court ordered stuff started pushing against the parents.

Religious beliefs? How about because once a male ALWAYS a male. The English language doesn’t change just because you wish you had a pussy. Clown fricking world!!!

yeah. its a big problem when kids learn threatening to commit suicide can get them their desired results as well.

Well you found the case study. Shouldn't that state what the parents are "not telling"?

This is what happens when the scum of the earth have actual real power.

the court said the child was removed due to medical issues (anorexia) that needed to be resolved and that the home environment was contributing to them.
According to the state, at the final dispositional hearing, DCS explained that its goal was reunification but that A.C.’s medical issues needed to be resolved.

OT Moderates and Progressives approve, especially since the family admits to being Catholic.
The OT Moderates and Progressives would support a Muslim family's objections to this, however. Please do not ask to explain the difference. You are too stupid to get it.

quote:This is true in all 50 states. Even in rural counties/parishes. If a threat is deemed as 'credible' which is a very low bar today then CPS will take the kid for psychological evaluation and depending on the leanings of the psych and case worker it can lead to months of therapy and an open CPS case, even if the child says "I was just venting, I want to go home." I have seen it when a child of some good friends of mine got upset over something and threatened this in a message and snap story to get attention from friends and throw a 'woe is me' pity party. Friends showed to parent, parent called CPS, kid was picked up at school the next day, and parents found out after the child was already in state care. This was probably a year ago in a rural/red county and it took weeks for them to get their child back and they still get pop-in visits from CPS.

everyone should disagree with a child being removed from a home over pronouns. the question is whether or not a child should be removed from a home over medical issues? I think as long as the parents are trying to solve the medical issues the child should remain home. if they stop trying to solve the medical issues, that is neglect.

it's definitely a slippery slope situation.
I was raised in a home where an arse whooping wasn't considered abuse. CPS is also a job full of Karens. I would trust the courts over CPS
