What gets lost in all this, is that from a power structure standpoint. Republicans want the cheap labor and Democrats want the votes. Neither party wants that border closed.

Conservatives are not in alignment with their party on this matter but liberals are. This is why Democrats will ultimately win the votes of these people.

Democrats flatly tell them "we want you here, now vote for us". Republicans tell them "we don't want you here" and then quietly wave them in.

That border will never close. The way we see it now is the way it will (for the most part) remain. If conservatives want to make Republicans out of them (because Mexicans by nature are conservative) then the the Republican Party has to stop sending them mixed messages.
