You are what is wrong with the medical industry in general. People who don’t have insurance and don’t qualify for Medicaid, should be turned away. You wouldn’t go to a restaurant and expect free food just because you are hungry. Don’t expect free healthcare from a private business just because you are either broke or lazy.

What law or statue addresses lack of compassion?

I told them I was uninsured but could pay some money out of pocket at that time. They said full payment was required
Why are you uninsured?
Because OP made a decision that he thought was in his best interest, when he apparently suffers from a medical condition that requires a regular prescription; and everyone is an a-hole for pointing it out to him. I'd also like to know if he has asthma, why wait until you are out and need an inhaler to then go and get a refill?
Posted on 1/8/24 at 11:00 am to MoLiberty
Did you ultimately get your inhaler? If so, from where did you get it?

As a serious answer - - you may potentially have a cause of action - - depending upon whether or not EMTALA (Emergency Medical Treatment & Labor Act) would apply to the urgent care facility. This is a fact based analysis and you should see a qualified lawyer in your area to address this - - even then, the only duty of the clinic would be to stabilize you as opposed to providing substantive medical care.

Yup, and if your house catches fire you should pay the water and labor bill upfront before a drop is dispersed.
Firefighters don’t work for free.

EMTALA does not apply to an urgent care unless it's connected to an ED. He likely has zero case as it doesn't sound like his situation was life threatening.

Serious question. Hypothetically, he has a legitimate case. What damages does he get to claim? Can he put the liability of the car accident on them when he choose to get in his vehicle to drive somewhere else for medical treatment even with the knowledge of his own conditions? If he can't put the car accident on him, what losses would he be able to pursue against them?

Should I call Morgan and Morgan?
Nope, you need to call Dudley DeBosier. They ARE the "Official Injury Lawyers" of the Saints and Ragin Cajuns, and also the "Official Partner" of LSU Athletics.

The EMT’s provided a breathing treatment enroute to the ER after the wreck. ER doctor wrote a script w/ refill when I was discharged.

Alright friend, let’s just pump the brakes of Marxist entitlement because your life choices.
Private business services are not rights. You were lazy and didn’t think anything would happen to you.
Get Medicaid and learn instead of lambasting others for your decisions to this point.
You posted this to the OT, not the best place but definitely can be an express lane for humility.
Life is rough, we all make mistakes, but that doesn’t define where we will end up in the long run if we learn from it.
Sorry your day sucked. Glad your asthma wasn’t worse.

Why would you get a refill at a clinic?

I don't think he does at all, but Barrister came in insisting he does; so I asked my hypothetical about what damages would he be able to go after the clinic for.
