But to use that excuse and then still put them 5 means the committee doesn’t do its job past the top 4. They should then be below UGA, Oregon, Ohio St at minimum. Maybe you put them ahead of Missouri.

How can it be reasonably stated that yep, they are worse than Bama, but better than UGA. That’s what is insulting to them. “You’re not top 4” but here, just be 5.

Then, to see who made the top 4, one thing you can look at is record. But, WHO you beat matters. So, to see that, you look at strength of schedule (SOS), and here is how they stack up:

#37 UGA (just in case they had beat Bama)

It's pretty simple to see which 4 teams won against the tougher competition this year. Yes, FSU went undefeated, but they won against a weak schedule. Bama's only loss came against a CFP team AND they just beat the consensus #1 team in the country. So, that helped them. It also hurt FSU that Travis got hurt and the offense has been horrible since. Translation = FSU not in CFP.

You are incorrect. The committee did exactly what they are instructed to do. The protocol given to the committee direct them to consider the effect of the absence of any key player or coaches on any team that had a significant effect on the success of the team. It’s in blackout and white in the instructions they are to follow. FSU has lost their first and 2nd string QBs. They just followed their protocol.
