Go get Shohei, lol... would never happen

Best bet is to hope Dubon/Chaz/Jake/ Some minors guy steps up and spend the money on pitching
Posted on 10/24/23 at 7:56 am to texastiger38
And for god sakes figure out why we can’t hit at home.

I’d like a lefty bat to add to the corner OF mix. Let the new manager play Chas everyday in CF, and you can platoon Dubon and the lefty acquisition if it’s someone who needs it. Rosario would be interesting if the Braves let him go.
Diaz will rightfully get the chance to catch 100 or so games next year. Need a veteran who can back him up/mentor him/catch the other 35% or so.

I feel like Joc probably signs back in SF but he would be awesome as a LHH OF bat who can add some needed pop and edge. He’s a pretty shitty LFer but is a perfect fit aside from that

Man I really wanted to go after Nimmo last year. There were rumblings but you never know if that’s just agents starting rumors.
At some point, Crane has to play ball on the long term deals or fade into the night. He’s been living off the Luhnow guys that got locked up before the 300MM/10 year deals started to emerge. The bill is about to become due.

Well we know he can hit in Minute Maid.

I don’t think the Mets were ever letting him go, but yeah he would have been perfect
I agree with you on the long term deals. They are more of a mechanism for deferring money now anyways (Nimmo’s deal is a perfect example)

IF everyone is healthy, I am still on board with a rotation of
Verlander
Framber
Garcia
Urquidy
Javier
With LMJ possible to contribute, but who knows.

someone to fill the Neris role.
From what I have seen around randomly online, it's about 50-50 if he is coming back. Maybe he wants to go somewhere and be a closer?
I would like to have Maton back. Stanek--TYFYS
Bullpen of Pressly, Graveman, Maton, Abreu is pretty solid even if Neris doesn't come back.

This will forever be one of the great mysteries--how an elite level ball club turned into absolute garbage on their home field over what amounted to about half of a season.
The only logical explanation, I suppose, is that it became mental and just got so far inside their head that they couldn't escape it.

There’s this rookie catcher who hit .280 with 23hr in limited action this year. He would be pretty good if we could somehow get him in our lineup next year.

On the surface, it doesn’t look bad, but this is where the GM earns his money. I know nothing is 100% but he has to decide…who is the real Framber? The dude that won two WS games last year or the mental midget we saw this season (and early in his career)? Have teams figured out Javier or was it just a down year? You’ve got a JV who is a year older…when does he fall off a cliff? I realize it’s hard to get all these right and every team pretty much has to make these decisions. But for the love of God Crane, let Dana Brown make them and not that Mumbling Meathead and Mr October.

Verlander 41
Framber headcase
Garcia coming off TJ
Urquidy not very good
Javier inconsistent
I'm not willing to ride with this rotation again

Lance is going to play a factor I know everyone is disappointed about his injury history and game 3 of the World Series, but his last 36 regular season big league starts he's pitched to right around a 3 ERA with 235 strikeouts in 210 innings pitched.
His breaking ball run value graded out in the 100th percentile in 2021 and he was effective last year when he got back.
Would I pencil him for being available for 180 innings? Of course not but he's a good big league pitcher when he's available and I really hope he is because he has that dog in him on the mound.
That said they should still look to add a MOR arm to lengthen the rotation because of the reasons above. Maybe no one develops into the ace but having 5+ reliable big league average arms will go a long way.

Shohei Ohtani here we come.

If you think he can stay healthy, I won't agrue. I just see no reason to believe it. He pitched a career high 162 innings in 2021 and it apparently wreaked havoc on his body.
