He'll be back here in 2027.

Good luck. I guess if I were Matt Rhule, I'd take a chance on him.
Fatt Fhule won't get him any better, nor will he actually coach him. There is no worse place for Arik to be with his issues than under that idiot.

I'd say he's in a dead-heat with Jamarcus Russell, but at least JR got drafted #1 and made some coin. Both busts for sure, but Arik far out in front, so nowhere near a dead heat...

The boy obviously has mental problem that is real. You really don't know the anguish he suffers and can't feel his pain. It's ashame because he had all the tools but one, mental stability. I hope he finds himself and becomes a successful person with his life. This board has no compassion after recognizing something is wrong after all this time. Good luck son and God bless you.

Cecil Collins will call him to remind him he wasn’t.

These 2 are no where near comparable. Sure Russell busted in NFL but in college he was damn good.

I wish i could up vote this a few more times. I cannot hate on this young man after hearing of his mental problems.

Andre Sam is up there as well, but he’s at LSU now, so all good.

That fool of a kid should have never left LSU, I bet he wishes that now. He could have had a great career at LSU and have been a high draft pick and in the NFL right now. Smh I just read some of the comments and if he does indeed have mental issues then please excuse my ignorance.

I’ve dealt with debilitating mental health issues and mine are probably minor compared to what he deals with. I honestly think it’s time to give up football and just focus on accomplishing basic daily tasks.

JT Daniels also has a nice scam going.

He was close to 300 lbs last I heard
I guess he lost that weight. There's pictures of him at Nebraska and he doesn't look out of shape at all.
Hope he got the help he needed.

I view this young man like Todd maronivich. If he turns out to be a productive member of society, that’s a win.

Don't know that we ever got official confirmation (and not that we're entitled to that info), but he is legitimately bipolar/manic-depressive disorder, right?
Barret Robbins skipping the Super Bowl comes to mind regarding how bad it can be if not actively treated

How do you have this confident of an opinion but also be completely unaware of his mental struggles?

quote:Obviously, because I wasn't following Arik Gilbert like a lot of y'all have been, I mean I just read this thread title and that's it, sorry. I then just proceeded to put down my thoughts without reading the comments in this thread which was a mistake on my part. But it's typical of y'all on here to just put people down and downvote you and all even though you've apologized for saying what you said. I really knew nothing about this young man's mental struggles until I started reading the comments, then I became aware. It's a real shame too because this kid is really talented, in his short time at LSU he put up strong numbers in his limited play. He is a really well-built specimen of a TE with great speed for a TE whch is why they started lining him up some outside at WR. If he had continued his career at LSU he would have had a great career with outstanding stats at TE playing inside and outside as a TE/WR type. He would have been a 1st round pick in the NFL draft I think, I think he was better than Georgia's TEs, but we'll never know now. But I wish him well in his life and career if he continues(and I hope he does), and I hope that he gets the help that he needs to overcome his adversities.
