Although this was my 7th trip, it was my 1st trip from start to finish.

Awesome presentation. We very nearly drove up Sunday. 24-4 gave us some reservations, I have to admit. It turns out we could have gone with no worries. But, I sorta went anyway - through your descriptions!

My first trip ever, I was there for the championship series. This captures it so well.

Omaha was the best time I've had on a trip in a while. Everything seemed so surreal. Was incredibly lucky I was able to be with friends, family, and other great LSU fans witnessing LSU win title #7.

Thanks. The ebb and flow of the journey made for an exciting 11 days.

I too was on that United flight and drove back to Houston in a Kia
We were still awake drinking when we got the notification the flight was cancelled. Frick United

There were such great times this trip. I purposely left out the experience after Tommy Tanks walk-off against Wake (for fear of being labeled a fan boy). My wife and I were at the team hotel, and I was in line at the bar to get our celebratory cocktails. As ESPN was showing Tommy Tanks' 2-run bomb, I slapped the guy in front of me on the shoulder, and as he turned to give me a high five, he says "that's my son". I congratulated him, of course, and said we were glad Tommy's a Tiger.

Your best one yet IMO. Well done.

It was probably a subconscious omission, to be honest, due to what followed. My son-in-law asked me to get some autographs for my 8 month old grandson, and let me tell you, I NEVER DO THIS, EVER.
An hour or so after my chance encounter with Tommy's dad, my wife spots him at the bar with a lady and young man with a beard and longish hair. Thinking that Mr. White and I are now fiends, I grab the baseball and head to the bar. I proceed to ask Tommy White for an autograph, and the young man was quite rude and even made fun of me.
He actually said "I'm not Tommy White, and chuckled as he said to Mr. White that this is the 2nd time in the last hour he was mistaken for Tommy."
Needless to say, Little Man's baseball is completely free of any markings, and it will stay that way.

I did the exact same thing as you... 4th trip, but first one that I spent the entire 12 days. My experiences were nearly the same, but I drove from Houston both ways (2 days each way) and made it an extended 60th birthday & retirement trip.
Everywhere I went with an LSU shirt on, the locals were so gracious to me. Even at the golf course, locals offered to buy me a beer after the round.
I've also gone to 7 women's college world series and Oklahoma City doesn't come close to Omaha. When OU is in rhe WCWS, the locals act like we're in their way and many wished we would go home. Omaha embraces the CWS and loves hosting.

dthev25 - you gave me a great idea. I will publish a post based entirely on fan interaction in Omaha. It is truly special to be part of it all.
