There’s no negative to not starting Skenes

We aren’t losing if Skenes pitches 5+ innings tomorrow. Doesn’t matter when he pitches those 5+ innings. It’s possible we can win tomorrow without Skenes also. It’s also possible that he can come in and pitch if need be tomorrow, without the game being out of hand.
1) start Skenes and win, you don’t have him to start a game against Florida
2) don’t start Skenes and get in a jam, bring him in and we win, but don’t have him starting a game against Florida. Bases loaded in the 2nd inning? Ok, bring him in and have him shut that down and shut them down the rest of the game. But you don’t get him against Florida.
3) don’t start Skenes, don’t need him, win, he’s ready for game 1 against Florida

To win a title, you must make it to the series.
Skenes tomorrow.
Skenes tomorrow.

This is very possible if Skenes doesn’t start tomorrow
Let it play out and see what happens.

You’re overthinking everything.
Floyd and Hurd showed how capable they are against a better team than Florida.
Florida has skirted by in this tournament and this bullpen has shown up.
You can’t win with Skenes alone, but getting there… You can’t win it if you’re not there. And Skenes can help make that happen.

Possible and probable are two different things, and you are dumb.

You'll get crushed but your logic is sound. Bring him in if ever needed but if by some chance you don't need him you have him ready to go 9 against Florida in game 1

Best outcome possible:
LSU bats get hot, we score 10+ by end of 4th - pull Skenes and hope he can be rested for championship series.

Sure. And we might need him to. But we might not. You can determine that tomorrow by letting someone else start.
Skenes will be Skenes whether he starts or plays innings 3-9.

Ok. So let it play out first and see where you stand after 1, after 2, after 3, after 4…..

This is an elimination game in Omaha to get to the CWS finals. You don’t hold anybody for future games at this point. You run your best out there to keep your season alive and have a chance to play for a championship. Skenes will and should start tomorrow.

Wake is better than Florida. Beat Wake with Skenes. Deal with Florida after.

Great point. What if the bats get hot and Skenes isn’t starting? Then you know he is rested for game 1.

I think the wind dictates a lot tomorrow. If it’s blowing in like it has been, all you need is someone to throw strikes. We saw a 112 exit today come up 40 feet short of the wall.

You can’t go down multiple runs against their ace.

You’re not “holding him back”
If things go to shite in the first inning, yea play him. I’m not saying he shouldn’t play at all tomorrow. He just doesn’t need to start.

If it's Skenes tomorrow, it needs to be as a starter. A starting pitcher warming up is different than a reliever. Skenes isn't someone in my opinion that should throw a few warmup pitches & come in as a relief pitcher as needed. Especially on short rest.

You can avoid this. If there’s a man on first and second with no outs in the first inning, bring Skenes in. You control when he plays.

This is stupid logic. The dude wants the ball and there’s all the confidence in the world behind the guys in the pen and Floyd/Hurd.
If he doesn’t start, who starts? And when it implodes, what are you going to say? If it’s 5-0 through 4 innings and you bring him in, but the bats can’t do shite against Lowder, then what?
Start Skenes. Get to the weekend. Worry about it when you get there.
And right now, I wouldn’t be worried.

This is kinda BS. Skenes will be Skenes whether he starts or comes in after an inning or two.
