Many countries have limits or outright blocks on foreigners owning property within their borders.

As they should. As we should. But democrats sell to the highest bidder regardless of whether they are an enemy or not.

They'll just park their money in a REI firm that is ostensibly American and call it a day.

Was Harry Lee not an American citizen? Were his parents still connected to the Chinese government in some way?

A hardline libertarian (read: anarcho-capitalist) would be against pretty much any kind of restriction on the consensual exchange of property or services.

I wonder how this will affect the Chinese owned chemical plants along the MS River. The bill says they can't lease land either.
I guess partnerships and holding corps will allow those with enough money to find easy loopholes.
eta: Link to the Bill for anyone that wishes to read it for themselves.
Existing leases remain effective and can be renewed. Existing oil and gas companies with current operations in the state are exempt with approval.

Harry Lee was born in New Orleans. He was an America citizen.

In my opinion that does not extend to something like a foreign countries buying up property.

To which a committed ancap would call you an imposing statist.

Yep. I was asking the OP to see how he thought this bill would "disallow a modern Sheriff Harry Lee".

No foreigner should be able to buy US proper if not a citizen. Not legal citizenship. Citizenship. And there will never be another Harry Lee. He kept us safe.
