Go spend some time in a public school, there are more than an acceptable number of kids with BO and nasty unbrushed teeth.

Two in five parents are failures. This is the result.

There are always cheaper options than what is commonplace.

How about condoms and birth control while they are at it. If you can't afford tampons you can't afford a baby

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe these feminine products are exclusively for non-pregnant women.

No clue but we should punish kids because their parents did not or can’t?? Sorry that is dumb

Parents - if your daughter calls you from school asking you to bring one because she forgot, are you able to take off work to get it there? Would she have the courage to even ask?

When both of mine started, there was some time where it would just start because they hadn't yet learned their cycle or when to know it was coming.

As such, we told them to keep some supplies in their school bag at all times.

That's, understandably, embarasing for a young girl. What if someone goes through her bag, etc. We told ours that this is just part of life and they need to be prepared.

Should the school have a supply on hand in case someone needs one? Yes.

Should the school provide them each month as needed? That's where the parents need to do their job as parents.

So what are your thoughts on public schools providing free meals, free transportation, free textbooks and supplies, free uniforms, and so on?

Where is your line drawn and why?

None of those things are free is my first thought.

I have no issue providing for my children and I pay a shite load in taxes for a lot of things I'll never benefit from. My line is not spending more unless we cut elsewhere. I'm aware my take will not jive with the overly emotional.

In all the things our tax money ends up going towards, I have no issue with this and would fully support it if Kentucky came up with this bill.

When I worked in a high school, I regularly bought period products out of my own pocket for the kids at work. The ones the school supplied were out of stock half of the time and shitty. This shouldn't be any different than providing toilet paper.

Lol, my mom used to teach in Louisina public schools. they had to check out the toilet paper to the students because they would just destroy it, piss on it, throw it all over the bathroom.

Idk, i just feel like we have way too many shitty parents. I dont have a daughter, but i damn well would make sure she had her own prodcuts to bring with her.

In all seriousness, it sounds like it has bipartisan support with the voting numbers and passing out of multiple committees unopposed.

More free shite though. We already pay for everything else, their food, their phones, their parents addictions, their school.

Well everything you listed, isnt gender specific. All kids can benefit from it. Not that I care either way, but I feel like trying to equate textbooks and tampons isnt really fair.

To whom? These are all free to the kids who attend public schools. The topic at hand is that now period products will be added to the list. I am curious if you have an issue with all the things I mentioned being free to kids or just the period products.

That doesn't answer my question on what line you think should be drawn specifically about public/free education and supplies and services that come with it.

I was genuinely curious on how you felt about the other free (to kids) things that come in public schools vs now period products. Where is your line.

So because two in five won't give a crap enough to provide for their kids, the rest of us get to.

And what can we do? I'm not willing to punish a child, because the parent is a deadbeat.

Our system is broken. This is not sustainable.

I have an idea. I dont pay any more in taxes for this shite because i dont want to.

You want to help, you pay more.

Everyone fricking wins.

Same as i feel with reparations. If democrats want them, then go find a black person and give them 300k. problem solved.

I never had free meals, my books werent free, nothing was free at my public school.

You could get it for free if you had shite parents, but that doesn tmean any of it was free.

But also i think school lunch was like $1.05-$1.35 back then.

When is the list of "free" things we need to provide complete? Do you pinky promise this is the last thing that will be added to the list?

It 100% does.

Why is it the government’s responsibility to buy tampons for teenage girls?

I agree with this wholeheartedly under normal situations, but it's actually crazy that this isn't supplied already (at least in the nurse's office.)

I'm not saying a lifetime supply or anything, but schools keep all kinds of other random supplies for kids, this is just being humane IMO.

Many kids in our area live in deplorable conditions. Every crackhead, prostitute, and drug dealer sends their kids to public schools, and I promise you they aren't making sure they all have their supplies. It's a ridiculous situation, but of all things to deny a kid, this shouldn't be one of them.
