Trade with CHA?

What would you give up for Scoot?
They already have Melo, not sure they want to pair him with Henderson.
Would you give up one of Herb/Trey plus Dyson plus pick 14, plus a future 1st?
Charlotte will get a lot of action for that 2nd pick I would imagine.

They could be targeting Miller. Also if they continue to suck Lamelo will probably just force his way out after he signs the extension.

Trey is damn near untouchable to me.
And even if Charlotte doesn’t want Scoot, why not just take Brandon Miller.

I'm watching Charlotte guys now. They want Henderson. They think he's a #1 in most other drafts and a future star.
Value wise, I think it takes Zion..

If the Pels have to talk another team into a trade it’s going to take a player you don’t want to give up so it’s not going to happen.
Posted on 5/16/23 at 8:06 pm to SHMILL
Charlotte could very well still take scoot

Could spell the end of Rosier there. And I fully expect them to pass on Miller since I suspect Bridges will be back.

CHA just always seems to make those random picks that never really work out..I’m definitely interested to see how they play this.
But yea wishful thinking on my part - I’m just part of the camp that believes a true PG is the what you must have and I think Scoot is the next one.
Along with Jalen-Hood Schifino lol

Which conference finals team has a true PG as one of their best players?

I kinda expect to trade Zion.

I mean this isn’t that far fetched to be honest..
And I’m a huge Zion believer, but I’m also not opposed to at least listening to offers now that the lottery is set.

Well I’d at least have to say that Miami does have Kyle Lowry, someone we did, in fact, target, who has put to Garth some nice games in the playoffs (especially early).
Denver has Murray - and I guess there’s an argument there for him not being an absolute pass-first point guard, but he is an elite pg.
LA has Deangelo Russell who is also more of a scoring pg, but nonetheless, he’s a point guard who can operate off the pick and roll and drain the midrange.
Boston has a combination of Derrick White (more of a score first), Marcus Smart (defense/pass) and Brogdon (you’re all-around PG).
None are massive scorers but all can dish and control the flow of the game. That combo works in Boston bc they have all 3, which is a rarity.
On the flip side, we have none of the above, except McCollum (who I’m a big fan of) playing out of position at PG, a backup (who I luv as a backup) in Jose playing/having starter expectations, and Dyson, who’s neither a scorer, or really a facilitator (yet), but is a nice defensive specialist at the early stage of his career.
So I’d say that the teams remaining all have the PG position pretty stocked compared to us at this point.

The front office couldn't sign off to trade Michael Thomas, they're not trading Zion.

He’s not one of their best players. Fell off a cliff recently.

He’s not the primary ball handler. He’s a combo guard and thus not a “true point guard.”

Maybe the best example I guess but I don’t think Smart is really a “true point guard” and those other guys are role players.
People keep saying we need a “true point guard”. But the only team running that really is the suns. Classic point guards are out dated. People just don’t like our primary ball handlers ability to run the offense. BI, CJ and Zion are our ball handlers. There’s really no room for anyone else. We just need them to play better and our coach to run a better offense.
But the statement that you “need” a “true point guard” is just crazy. The best teams don’t use one as a primary ball handler.

I do not believe this at all. It is cyclical and smaller guards have gravitated towards being combo guards. That does not eliminate their value. Smaller guards have speed and quickness. We do not have that. We are trotting out these long defenders and they are at a disadvantage against smaller, quicker players. Once again, the game is played at levels. 6'8 guys just aren't normally as quick as 6'2 guys.
Teams have figured that out about us and are just going to go small. We don't have the heft to punish them for that. We need a smaller dynamic guard to add to the rotation. That was really exposed when Alvarado went out injured. Lewis just doesn't look to be that guy. McCollum is getting older and is not that quick to begin with. If your solution is to throw Jones or Daniels into that role, we are screwed. They will try hard, but they just aren't built for that.
