No toddler ever committed suicide via starvation. Don’t sweat it and they will eat when they are hungry enough. This is stage 1 of the next 16 years of boundary testing.

Exactly. It’s also not a thing that is a one size fits all approach. Each kid is different, trust your instinct on how to best handle those stages based on how your kid will respond.
Parenting is mostly guesswork, but if you trust your gut and give yourself some outs while remaining flexible - it will work out just fine.
