10 weeks ago (yes, I have actually kept count) I told myself I will no longer spend my evenings watching the following:

Fox News
Newsmax
NewsNation
CNN
MSNBC

etc etc etc

I decided to turn on FOX News last night to just see what was going on

And my god it was the EXACT same shite I watched on there 10 weeks ago! I mean identical.

I watched for about 10 minutes and actually got a shitty feeling in my stomach watching this garbage.

I can’t believe that I would get home from work every single night and watch this garbage every single night for the past several years

Here are my results:
- My life is no different than 10 weeks ago except for a few new positive things…
- I exercise a LOT more than 10 weeks ago. I actually ran 6-1/2 miles today!
- I am eating a lot better and healthier
- I am now watching more TV shows where I actually learn shite - I really enjoy Home building shows, real life documentaries, fishing shows and I am watching a lot more sports on TV
- I am sleeping A LOT better as well

I guess my point is that watching the National News every single night was making my head foggy and I was just obsessed watching the exact same shite every single night. It made me lazy after work and it was not a very healthy lifestyle watching that shite garbage every single night. It’s so refreshing and makes me a lot more productive by not watching that shite.

I’m sure there will be some smart arse comments from people on here and I’m good with that, because guess what? I don’t care what you think. All I know is that by me turning that shite off, my life feels a lot better and healthier.

I mean, it's a lot of illegal aliens. They don't all cross on the same day.

Sounds like you are discovering that more serotonin neurotransmitters in your life leads to a more healthy lifestyle than dopamine overload.

ETA: the only "news show" I watch now is Tucker and I'm slowly weaning myself off of that.

I do watch local Atlanta news when I get off work and in the mornings.. but only for about 20-30 minutes to see who all got shot and robbed last night, the weather, the traffic reports and to see how the Braves did the night before if I missed watching the game like last night because they had a late game out west

They say “ignorance is bliss”,FL. Your witness backs that up. You likely have learned enough to realize that talk and voting won’t solve our problem. Can’t legislate morality or vision. Let me suggest to devote some time to gardening as well. Good for the soul and the belly. Good luck.

I have a really good friend who went through the same thing.
Back towards the end of the Reagan years I started flipping between all the network news channels and noticed they all covered the same stories...the same way. Then it was magazines and major newspapers. All the same. Then came the wildwest of the internet and Shazam controlled content again. If I could suggest anything it would be for those with resources to prepare for bootleg radio and pirate internet. One day that will be the only voices of counter thought.

That was my parents family tradition watching the local evening NOLA affiliate news.

Similar story, except my addiction was following the lab leak community on Twitter. Prior to that, I was a daily NYT/WaPo reader. When they failed to cover Covid origins, I switched to Twitter. Every day I absorbed and commented on dozens and dozens of posts. I quit about two weeks ago, and I feel a lot better. I am resigned. I care, but I care more about myself.

I’ve been telling my buddy lately: you have to see the parallels to living in Soviet Russia. People lived happy and meaningful lives in a corrupt and duplicitous place, and so can we. Turn away.

Congrats. I gave up watching the news about 25 years ago. I gave up cable TV about 15 years ago. I read a lot more now.

Haven’t watched anything but an occasional peek at Newsmax since the Kavanaugh debacle when ever that was. And cancelled cable TV at same time. Same for for pro sports.

I’m better off for having done it and won’t go back.

I made that decision in November 2020. Haven’t watched one minute of any national news channel since then. It’s all propaganda and misinformation.

When they cut off Trumps daily briefings during COVID because it showed his numbers going up I completely gave up the TV news.

I had reduced it by a shitload.

That finished it off.

Piss on em.

If you feel this good in 10 weeks…. A year is going to feel completely liberating.

And yes… I’m closing in on a year of shutting all national TV media down. I watch a little bit of business news in the morning and that’s it.

Frick their political driven and opinion led “””news”””. It’s all garbage.

Used to watch it every night, virtually without fail. Quit 5 years ago. It made a noticeable change in my happiness. I highly recommend giving it a try. They are all lying anyway. Why listen to it? Life is waaaay to short for liars and manipulators!

The only time I put it on a network news channel is during a national election.

It’s never on in my home.

I get all my news from TD.
