Alexis Lex Luther Morris 4th Quarter Appreciation!

Most of the analysts are talking about how she scored 15pts in the 4th but she also limited Clark to 5pts! Once the 4th quarter came and she wasn't in foul trouble, she turned up her defense just like she did against Amoore from VT. Everyone showed up, but what Lex did in the 4th was HUGE!!! Lex is definitely a "closer!"

She was an assassin out there. Every time Iowa made a shot or play she came back and put it on them. Dominance

15 points in the 4th quarter is what legends are made of! She was on a mission to not let that Championship slip away.

Clutch from shooting the longest 2's you can make...absolute

Yep. She was the closer.
She took care of the ball. Slowed the game down... and with Iowa desperately trying to rally, hitting us with everything but the kitchen sink.... Alexis Morris knocked down shot after shot late in the game.
She made 5 jump shots, 2 free throws and a 3 in the 4th quarter to seal the deal.

Yeah that was amazing to watch. She had a rocky 1st half and then Iowa made their run in the 2nd but after that she took over both sides of the court. She shut Clark down when it mattered most. Such a clutch performance.

I’ve fallen in love with Lex over this season. Just a great story, quiet but strong, hard worker, gives it her all.
She is the perfect example of taking personal responsibility for your actions and working hard to overcome and come out better for it.

Yes me too, but I'm sure the Final 4 improved her draft stock greatly. She has a covid year, but I believe she's gone.

She was money from mid range

This! It's like Lex was in a zone! I was not worried at all because every time Lex came back, took her time and answered!

Yeah, she sat almost all the 2nd quarter, but when she made it to the 4th with only 2 fouls, she turned it on!

She was amazing! So clutch.

She averaged scoring 10 points in the 4th quarter our last 4 tournament games. Every time it seemed Iowa hit a shot or started to make a run late in the game, she came down with and scored or dished it someone else for a bucket.

Not taking anything away from what Morris did, but Clark having 4 fouls in the 4th prevented her from trying to drive to the basket.

Alexis was absolutely my favorite player from the team this year... She was simply a great leader. Her turn-around story is inspiring. I watched her as a Freshman at Baylor, and she stepped up greatly that year when Kristy Wallace went down with the knee injury. I hated to see her dismissed from the BU team, but I also know she was making poor decisions in her personal life at that time. She has truly turned it around and has worked her way into a myriad of options for her future. I wish her much success.

That's true, and it also meant Alexis was able to suffocate her knowing that if Clark breathed wrong she would get fouled out. All game Clark was being suffocated by Alexis, and she got away with quit a few push offs. You can't risk a push off with 4 fouls when your down 10+ and you account for 50% of your teams scoring. Alexis was the cause of most of Clark's fouls by pressing the frick out of her.

Actually it was Lex's style of defense on Clark. Clark is uncomfortable going right and Lex became more aggressive making Clark cross over to her right. Diana Taurasi spoke about it on their show and LSU obviously had it in their game plan. The whole 4th quarter Clark was uncomfortable.

She's going in my top 3 all time lady tigers. Seimone, Sylvia, and Alexis. She was so clutch all year. Her whole story. Her confidence early on saying she wanted her senior night in Dallas. Hard not to be so damn happy for her.

She was amazing from midrange.
I also loved how Mulkey got on Morris for her one mental lapse with 3 minutes left when she committed the 10 seconded violation. Morris was tasked with slowing the game down and using clock and after a few possessions she didn't pay attention to the 10 second rule and it got called. Morris took it in stride and knew she screwed up. Mulkey demands the best from her players and the player expect the best from themselves.
Also, Morris' play is indicative of how important point guard play is at every level of basketball.
