What's the law if you shot someone, who robs you, in the back?

Say you're cocky in New Orleans and a guy robs you on the corner of St Charles and MLK at hun point. He turns around to run and you pull out a pocket .380 and do society a favor and put 4 rounds in between the thief's shoulder blades?
Safe or is this another situation like the guy who's in trouble for shooting someone who was trying to steal his car?
