Nah. CJ gives up a lot of 3’s. It’s a pretty consistent part of his game. Loses the trailer a lot, overhelps when it’s not necessary, etc
Game isn’t on him. It’s on all those ludicrous fast break turnovers and offensive rebounds we gave up.
But the defense on that last play was not perfect. You help off of anyone but Trent Jr. We fell into their trap and they got the exact shot they wanted on that possession.

Are we really bitching about the 3 point shot they made? How about not sleep walking through 85% of the fricking game when you’ve been off a week?
I’m disappointed in the effort this team gives on a nightly basis.
Seriously, and I'll state again, I blame the coaching for this. Also, yet again we lost in turnovers and offensive rebounds. Also concerning, we shot really well from 3 (43.3%) and still lost. I have very little confidence in this team at the moment.

I think the Shininess of Willie has worn off.

Ingram has been playing well shotmaking wise lately
It’s disappointing we can’t win games while he is actually nailing 3’s.
We just lost the grind somewhere along the way. Toronto is a Grindy, gritty team. That’s a tough matchup for us right now.
Turnovers, rebounding, overall defensive intensity. We gotta get back in the lab in all 3 of those aspects or the last 22 games are going to be disappointing.

I think it's starting to but he still has a lot of support from what I can tell. I am not one of those.

At the time I posted that he had 3 assists, 6 turnovers, 27 points but not super efficient, and didn't give 1 iota of effort on defense the entire night.
If you want to crown that, go ahead. But I'll call it what it was in that very moment, a shite performance. And like I said, virtually everyone else on this board, Twitter, wherever you want to go look were saying the same.

The other problem is that it doesn't allow other players to get in the rhythm of the game. When BI is cooking, then his iso play is fine, but that can't be our offense for an entire game. That's why he needs to buy in to Willie's offense.

Except that it was contested and not wide open at all
I must have been watching a different game winning three from GTJr, because what I saw was CJ over help on defense, leaving his man Gary Trent Jr wide open on the perimeter, so ball was kicked to him and he took an in-rhythm shot that CJ tried to get back and defend, but was too late in doing so.
It wasn't good defense by CJ and it certainly wasn't "highly-contested."
Idk what yall are seeing.

Pels have very little room for error...and unfortunately, we have several players that are constantly committing "errors".
Herb did a great job on Siakam all night & didn't need help. Especially at crunch time in the 4th quarter. Siakam entered the game with 8 minutes left in 4th & went 1-7 in the final 8 minutes. That was Herb doing work.
Herb was in great shape on that last shot...and all CJ needed to do was just stand over there in front of Trent so he couldn't even have a chance of receiving a pass from Siakam. For some reason, CJ decided to roam over toward Siakam & allow Trent to be a viable option. Bottom line: We're just not good enough to play...well...let's call it..."unsmart"

That was essentially the offense with Zion too though, except he was more efficient and allowed others to get open for easy shots. First time we played the Raptors Zion went ham and Trey hit like 7 threes and we won by 30.
I love BI, besides Jrue he’s my favorite Pel ever, and I think he is easily a top 20 player in the NBA, but either he’s killing the offense or Willie’s game plan is putting him, and the team, not in a position to win. Considering the offense was basically the same just a different person in iso I’m thinking that’s on Willie.
In the recent 3 game win streak BI averaged 6 assists and didn’t play in one game where we scored 136. In the 4 games after he had 1 twice, 3 once, and 8 against the Cavs. It’s clear that when we move the ball we are more successful. Now the question is why does the ball stop with BI and how do we fix it.

I rather watch the game, and if that was your collective take, then we’ll ok. Nothing at all to do with getting cake walked in the paint? Defense is getting compromised immediately upon opponents initiating their offense, not a problem? Size mismatches across the board, no issues there? Teams are getting what they want when they want against the Pels in terms of their offense and Pels are initiating their offense by inbounding the ball after made baskets. That’s what needs to get fixed.

I have zero clue how you can argue at the time I made that post that Brandon Ingram was having anything other than a shitty game. I'm legit dumbfounded you're arguing against that if you watched the game. You actually believe that?

Exactamundo. I'm constantly amazed that folks around here don't understand that our lack of defense is our main problem. We've got other problems for sure...but our defense just flat out sux.
Sometimes, I think the ONLY thing we have going for us on the defensive end...is that the other team MIGHT get confused on which one of our players to attack...since we have so many that are just pitiful on the defensive end.

I’d say you’re watching the game fragmentally Shel. Pulling the ball out of the net to start your offense, particularly for a team that doesn’t have an abundance of playmakers and shooters, effects production profoundly.
I’d expect this to improve as the schedule gets easier and again when Zion returns but the issue, particularly against the better teams remains. Pels rely on making difficult shots (Zion, BI, CJ to a lesser extent) while opponents get easier shots due to Pels compromised defense.
