Westbound Car Towing on Interstate

What’s the story with these groups of cars that are always towing vehicles ( usually 2 being towed ) westbound.
Where are they towing from and where are they going? Why the long distance?

Pick up from auctions, usually in FL. Always Hispanic drivers, towing them back to Mexico.

Buy salvaged title cars. Tow to Mexico and sell there without retitling in U.S.
PROFIT.
Bonus, smuggle cartel cash back in the towed vehicles. +++Profit.
Source - Buddy in the U.S. Border Patrol. Watch for the unmarked police vehicles on I-10 WB when you enter BR. They aren't sitting there for speeders and they aren't watching the EB lanes full of illegals.

half the time i stop for gas, at least one of these trains has broken and they're trying to fix the lead car, adding oil, trying to repair an axle...
i asked one time and the guy replied 'we bring them to mexico to fix and sell for a huge profit'
moral to the story: don't buy a used car from mexico

I remember when the "cash for clunkers" boondoggle kicked off all this bullshite. It was chaos in the years afterward. The most egregious example I saw was a box truck that had a car crammed into the back then towing 2 cars behind it. Of course, the cops don't give 2 fricks because they know they can write a ticket but none of them will pay it. That's how you know cops writing tickets has absolutely nothing to do with "public safety" and everything to do with revenue generation.

Before Ida I knew of two Mexican families that always had a couple of junk cars that they would disassemble and load up a 20’ utility trailer with parts. They’d leave with the trailer and return a few days later to start the process again.
Ida destroyed their home and I’ve never seen them again. The house was demolished and the property has since been cleaned up and well kept.
Don’t know what happened to them.

There aren’t auctions closer, like in Texas?
