I really enjoyed the one time I ate there and it was evidently always busy (which is why they didn’t bother with takeout). Word is the ownership had “issues” and if you ever saw what they looked like you would know what I mean.

Legit teared up. Was one of my 5 top places in the city, never had a bad meal there. Could have lived on their duck lo mein and hot and sour soup.

I had reservations for Saturday night…….. I guess not anymore

It was decent, but every time I had it, they seemed to miss on something.
They opened up touting they would replicate some old school Chinese-American things like egg rolls and I didn’t think they really hit the mark on that idea.

I liked it. And Every time we tried to go on a whim, they didn’t have reservations. On the surface I’m not sure they were strong business owners.
I think they thought they could be the dinner-time version of Turkey and the wolf but they did not quite have the charisma to play off the popularity they garnered.

Talked to someone tonight who confirmed this. Debate whether it was a dispute between owners or just there was nothing left to dispute. Would expect one of them to continue on with something productive.

shouldn't white guys be held accountable for culturally appropriating Chinese culture for their own profit

Horner initially opened Blue Giant in January 2020 with then-business partner Bill Jones. The two had worked together in the kitchen at Donald Link’s Cajun restaurant Cochon. Jones later left the restaurant and Horner became sole proprietor last year.
Per McNulty, it appears they had already split a year ago
What’s the issue? Could be a lot of things if you’re going off the Richard guy’s appearance

Cherubical white fellows cooking Chinese food who perhaps took theirselves a little too seriously. Opened 5 hours a day, reservations only, dine in only, not on delivery apps, closed two days a week. Basically the blueprint on how to not generate revenue. Couple that with the labor market and crime = donez
Excellent clarifying.

As many have said, excellent food and always very full. Not sure the specifics of the reason but sure would’ve liked to sneak another meal in. Always a bummer when a good place announces this after the doors have closed for the last time.

It's still more revenue. Not offering take-out at the least was not smart.
Our takeout orders from there almost hit damn near $100 each time.

They didn’t like doing take out because their food wasn’t transferring well after sitting in takeout containers.
And The owner literally says it was money related. He didn’t know if he could pay employees week to week.

It transferred well when I picked up multiple times before the takeout ban.
