GOP Rep. Don Bacon told CNN on Wednesday morning that Kevin McCarthy is currently reaching across the aisle to come to a deal with Democrats to either support a "consensus candidate" for House Speaker or to vacate the House chamber to lower the threshold needed to secure a majority.

"There are preliminary talks but we don’t want to go too fast on this because that then hijacks what Kevin is trying to do and we want to support Kevin," Bacon said. "We cannot let a small handful of folks that are on the extreme part of our conference, one of the smallest caucuses that we have, we can’t let them control the entire House of Representatives."

Why would the Dems want to vacate?

Look at who is threatening to negotiate with democrats… they first accused the 20 of doing it but it’s clear who was going to do it and is proving their point

The vote is for a majority of those present. If the Dems leave, McCarthy needs a smaller number in order to win. It's the equivalent of them actually voting for him.

If (when) this happens, they can never again deny that we have a uni-party.

So pretty much a preview to this congress for 2 years if McCarthy is installed.

More reach across the isle BS for a rep majority… then back to investigations and demonization of the right when republicans lose the next round when the right sits home because they are demoralized with republicans.

Rinse. repeat.

Correct. However, wouldn’t it be in their best interest to drag this out?

Is this why Trump is supporting McCarthy? TO ensure no Dems cross over. Can you imagine the backlash if a Dem supports someone who Trump supported?

He would rather deal with Dems than his own party.

This should disqualify him period.

Exactly. Nothing new and it's exactly why these scumbags have Trump to deal with.

McCarthy and McConnell loathe Trump but they don't recognize that they gave birth to Trump.

This is how you get Trump in your lap.

I wish.

The reality is, casuals have no idea its going on and dont care. They’ll hear CNN or Fox tell them the 20 are terrorists holding them hostage, and they will buy it.

The Pedocrats are trying so hard to help McCarthy without exposing their support for McCarthy.
