This isn’t about you’re a better fan if you believe. Do you honestly believe that this team can and will come out the west in the playoffs? eta this year!

I think they can this year but are set up for many more chances to be at top of the west

Yes. We can play different styles of ball and we're deep. Our 2nd best player has missed more than half the games played this year. The only question is if we can taken 4 out of 7 against the best teams. And I think we can.

I did not to start the season, and still gun to my head think that if we get deeper into the playoffs against certain healthy teams, we are going to have some issues with rim protection, rebounding, and countering threes.

But I do think there is a much wider pathway where the right matchups, health, and if BI/Zion can be as dominant as they have shown at the right times, that we come out the West ala similar to when OKC/Pho took their leaps from scrappy up and coming team to letting people know they’ve arrived in the upper echelon of the league for real

I 100% think we can but I won’t hold my breathe. Only because we are still building chemistry and have yet to play multiple games with a full squad.

We looked rough with Herb back in the starting lineup and we have no clue how the distribution will be between Zion, CJ, and BI all on the court. If we can close the season with a full team and figure out minutes before playoffs then yes easily.

There's no dominant team in the West right now.

I think that we are one of five teams with approximately equal chances to get to the Finals. I think that two other teams have decent, but lower, odds.

I want to see what we look like with a healthy BI. When we had everyone healthy at the beginning of the season, Zion was still feeling his way and wasn't the player that he is now.

But I think that we could very well be the best team in the West.

It’s tough not to be optimistic.

After that CJ/Nance trade they won something like 62% of their remaining games, won the play-in, took the #1 seed to 6 games, all without Zion, with 3 rookies getting meaningful minutes, and a team not exactly gelling together yet.

That same team has Zion back, those 3 rookies have gained solid experience, they’ve had some solid time playing together, and added a contributing rookie in Daniels. Probably most importantly they’ve shown solid depth even when key contributors are out.

Can they win it all? If healthy I see no reason they can’t be in the conversation.

But even going forward they’ve got a solid young core with assets to make moves if need be.

So I don’t blame anyone for thinking this team can make a run this year.

The season is a grind and there is a long way to go. Who is going to catch a wave at the right time? If Zion is healthy they can win the trophy.

I don't think they will win it all.

I think they can get the #1 seed. This is an awesome regular season team. Their depth is the best in the league but come playoffs the lineups shorten to 8 or 9 players.

They matchup badly with the Celtics, Clippers, Grizzlies, Bucks, and Jazz.

They matchup very well against the Suns, Sixers, Timberwolves, and Cavs but I feel the top group will be the other best teams in the league.

There isn’t a team I believe in more.

Maybe the Warriors or Clippers if they are healthy could be argued, but the Pels haven’t been healthy and they are still playing better, so if I had to put money on one team it would be the current #1 seed that still has an all-star to be added.

Let’s go

Stating the obvious here but can and will are two very different things. Do I think they could come out of the West? Sure, but do I think they will? That’s tough.

If the question is would I bet right now on the pelicans or the field to come out of the west - I’d take the field.

But that would be my answer for any team in the west this year. There is no insurmountable Warriors type team and I think the Pels are as good as anyone in the west.

As we’ve seen the last few years, it will likely come down health come and through playoffs.

Can? Yes

Will? Probably not. No team in the West has some crazy high, above 50% shot.

At this moment but assuming all key players healthy, I think only 2 teams would be definitely favored in a series, Clippers and Nuggets. Grizzlies would probably be whoever has homecourt.

To add to that, throw the records out the window, I'd imagine Golden St would be favored on us as well.

Need to see a healthy CP3 for an extended time, without that, we should be favored over Phoenix but that could change.

The main thing the Pels need to improve their odds besides being healthy come playoff time is to keep winning. We see what a big deal playing at home is for this team, if they can maintain this winning pace and have home court advantage through the first 3 rounds, and maybe even the Finals, they definitely have a shot.

Yeah, it would be impossible to bet against us in any series that we have home court.

I believe they have the talent and certainly can, but the NBA is a fickle beast and it usually takes a team a couple of trips to get over the hump.
