https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian-occupied_territories_of_Ukraine#:~:text=Before%202022%2C%20Russia%20occupied%2042%2C000,27%25%20of%20Ukraine's%20total%20territory.

quote:

Before 2022, Russia occupied 42,000 km2 (16,000 sq mi) of Ukrainian territory (Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk), and occupied an additional 119,000 km2 (46,000 sq mi) in its full-scale invasion by March 2022, a total of 161,000 km2 (62,000 sq mi) or almost 27% of Ukraine's total territory. However, by 11 November, the Institute for the Study of War calculated that Ukrainian forces liberated an area of 74,443 km2 (28,743 sq mi) from Russian occupation.

This would leave Russia in control of 33,257Sq miles (62K-28.7K=33.2K) of Ukraine, 16K of which they already controlled before the war began on Feb 24th. This means that at this point of the war, Russia has taken 17,257sq miles (33.2K-16k=17.2K) of Ukraine...slightly double what it controlled before the war. Russia has taken from Ukraine, a territory larger than Maryland (42nd smallest state) @ 9.7k and smaller than West Virginia @24K (41st smallest state).

Since the high point of the Russian invasion, Russia has lost 62.39% (28.7K lost/46K taken = 62.39%) of the territory it captured since Feb 24th.

The 17.2K Sq Miles Russia has taken from Ukraine since Feb 24th = 7.5% of Ukraine's total territory.

Tell me again how great Russia is doing.

ETA: I realized I made a mistake when I typed this, the actual number is 62.39% loss of gained territory by Russia
28.7K/46K = 62.39%, not 46%. The title has been edited to reflect this.

Do you disagree with the math or do you just not like what it says?

This seems to be the reasonable answer, and therefore is the one which is ignored

I personally don't care.

Its the cheerleaders like you that make this so funny.

the 46% number you cited should give you reason to pause though, I'll let you figure out why.

I don't care how well Russia is doing. I also don't care how well Ukraine is doing. Both are corrupt regimes. One is controlled by Putin, one is controlled by our corrupt government.

The only thing I care about is we have sent $100+ billion to fund a proxy war and don't give a shite about our own border being overrun by illegals.

So we have bought part of Ukraine back?

Sweet, now where did the other 70% of the money go?

I could link things from The Duran (where in March they were talking about Clausewitz model - the destruction of armies rather than the capture of cities), Douglas MacGregor, Larry Johnson, Scott Ritter, New Atlas, Andrei Martyanov, Moon of Alabama, but it doesn't matter, you'll say it's all Russian propaganda.

I did come across an interesting entry in the last few days. This guy Dreizin brags that he knows the conflict better than almost anyone. The reason I think he is worth considering is that while he is an alt media guy, he disagrees with most others who think all has gone well for Russia and he speaks Russian, so he is probably better informed than most. He says Krasnyi Liman was where Russia was on the ropes, but they got through it, and Ukraine simply isn't going to have the manpower to survive. If you can look away from his vaccine rants, I think this is worth considering.

I totally agree with you and don't understand why in the 7.7TRILLON dollars of spending in the last two years, we couldn't use some of that to build a big damn wall on the border and put an end to that problem.

You come on here because in your tender mind, you think the PT board is pro-Russia, and why? Because we don’t want taxpayer funds financing a war that doesn’t concern us, while your buds open our southern border.

So you come over here with some sort of statistical gotcha, as if it’s a football game. Okay you hurt us, now I repeat, who cares.

Its funny he believes a report with "46%" listed as an actual number, which anyone who's ever done marketing knows is absolute bullshite.

Then show me the correct math, if you can.

I posted the source of the data and posted how I derived the 46% number. Not my issue if you aren't smart enough to understand the math.
