It’s a bit weird but I always seem to have more fun on the Eve. The parties and playing Santa Claus when the kid goes to bed. Christmas Day almost feels over at noon.
same with us, we do christmas eve together and open presents, then fade away as desired and meet for family christmas day lunch and then in our mind its done
it seems each generation has smaller family groups that get together for holidays, rather than have everyone going to grandma house for a big gathering. young people today dont seem to like big gatherings of family

You just have to create some family traditions for Christmas Day that don't involve kids opening presents as fast as possible at 4am.
- Create a breakfast tradition
- Watch a special movie on Christmas Day that you save all season
- Find an elderly couple to bake something for and bring to them
- Go knock on someone's door and sing a Christmas Carol
- Visit a nursing home, etc
There are a lot of ways you can build special holiday magic on Christmas Day. You just have to reserve some things and wait to do them that day.
