f I remember correctly USC and LSU had 2 common opponents in 2003 and LSU beat each one by more than USC did.
LSU beat Arizona 59-13. USC beat them 45-0. LSU beat Auburn 31-7. USC beat them 23-0. LSU beat each by one more point, but USC had 2 shutouts. That’s pretty much a wash.

Additionally, USC played 1 regular season game against teams who finished in the top 25. That was against #15
LSU played 4 or 5 teams that finished in the top 25

Well if ESPN showed it, this must be true.

That was season only 1 LSU opponent managed to score in the 20's

Yes
The AP was under the umbrella of the BCS. That was known going into the season. They decided to remove themselves later. It didn’t make any sense.

They (AP) said it was about integrity. Then went on, as journalists, to create a champion as opposed to reporting about a champion. Paul Finebaum's take was hilarious. Basically calling them irrelevant and hypocritical.

Yes, USC played only WSU who finished #9, but did beat them 43-16. LSU beat Georgia twice and Ole Miss with 2 of the 3 wins by 3 and 7 before crushing Georgia in the SECCG 34-13. LSU deserved #1, but it wasn’t glaringly obvious. Part of the problem was that Saban always let off the gas in the 4th quarter while USC tended to run up the score.

2003 was the BCS era. 1 team has claim to a BCS National Championship for the 2003 season. That team is LSU. End of story.

Link? The schools didn’t agree to anything
You can look it up yourself. Every AD agreed to it. EVERYONE knows it. The media and west coast pussies just ignored it to create the bullshite.

I get that we are supposed to hate them for claiming that one but in reality though we were better that year imo, the next year for them kind of showed that the 2003 team was pretty damn good.
Well there was a system in place which USC and their entire weak arse conference signed on to. It was called the BCS.
You don’t just award yourself a Natty because you played as #3 and beat #6 while #1 and #2 play each other. The AP just used USC to protest the BCS because they were becoming irrelevant.
Regarding USC, they lost to Stanford who was fricking terrible. So exactly what is their supposed claim to the 2003 Natty? They have as much a claim as UCF had to the 2017 Natty over Alabama.
Systems apply and are not subject to on the fly changes because 1 school gets butthurt.

This. The trophy is in Baton Rouge. I've looked right at it, next to the one from 2007 in the Football Ops Building.

I was in Vegas watching the game with two friends that had bet LSU to win the National Championship. There were two USC fans that started saying they were the real National Champions. One of my buddies stood on his chair and said well then go up to the window and cash your USC ticket and see what happens, because when LSU wins I’m going to cash mine. The guys shut up immediately. It’s still the quickest I’ve ever seen someone win a sports argument in my life.

They agreed the winner of the title game would be voted #1 in their POLL
So ur agreeing that the AP didn’t stick to agreement they made then?
Sweet, now ur finally starting to figure it out.

Since the Pac12 didn't have a Conference Championship Game USCw didn't have to play an extra game like OU & LSU in order to be Conf Champs.
USC sat at home & watched 2 other teams play an extra game & expected to be given a spot in the Natty.

quote:Not true. The BCS was created to quell the co-championship issue.
When there were Co-champions in the poll era, no one ever considered those titles to be half a championship
