Okay, but here's the thing. At West Point, you can quit/transfer/whatever before the start of your junior year without owing anything. He's an idiot for going through Affirmation if his #1 dream was to play in the NFL. At that point he should've transferred, graduated, and could eventually commission later on via OCS.

Or…maybe he loves West Point, wanted to be a West Point grad given he’d already put in 50% of the work, and believed he could go to the NFL first since that has been an option up until now?
Do we even know if he looked like an NFL prospect at the end of his second year? Looking at his 2020 stats, it seems like he wasn’t even starting.
The expectation seems to be that he should have been able to see into the future where this bill passes and he develops into an NFL prospect.
