How to keep a dead vampire from rising from the dead

The 17th century wasn't that long agoThis was serious stuff back in the day. Archeologists found a woman's skeleton with one pointed tooth and a metal sickle over her neck to decapitate her, if she tried to rise after death
There's also a large lock around her big toe to keep her attached to the ground.
(The use of metals for both and the complexity of the lock to me indicate how seriously those charged with burying her took their job. Similar sickles over articulated necks have been found elsewhere, as well)

If you're really a boss, you keep the coffin by your bedside, so you can beat the vampire's arse when he tries to rise from the dead.

I was always taught to cut off their head and place it between their knees in the coffin.
