Once again, most states have laws on the books prohibiting manufacturer to consumer sales. The manufacturers also tried setting up a few service facilities to perform warranty repairs, they didn't last long. The dealerships are here to stay for the near future.

Can laws not be changed? Why is it I have to buy an auto from a dealer but I can buy a PC directly from Dell computers? Why is something with wheels different?
