My thoughts exactly.
Apparently the whole world’s supply chain was 2-3 weeks of vacation away from complete melt down and 6-12 month backlogs. I call bs

Good luck ever getting a new car again.

That may be the case, but after working in the industry in college and seeing how much of a mark up these vehicles get, it's a fricking crock of shite to pay MSRP on a vehicle.

Never take a trade-in to a dealership. That's when you lose all of your leverage and the voodoo and funny stuff kicks in. Sell it yourself and then just use whatever you make of the sale towards the down payment.
Be careful with the Finance & Insurance manager. He's usually the craftiest and slickest person on the lot.
Terrible advice. For most people, selling a car themselves rather than trading is a major hassle. Could take days, weeks or even months to sell. The prospect of weeding through deadbeats and idiots to find a legitimate buyer that has the funds. Also, you lose tax credit on the trade value, which can be thousands. How about this - do some research on your trade-in value before you go to the dealership and only accept a fair offer for it? Buying a car isn't nearly as difficult as people make it out to be. If you do a little due diligence before going in to make the purchase it can actually be quite easy.

Companies like carfax and carvana have made this an easier deal as they give more than a dealership would

If you can wait about 3 more months there is a big correction coming to the new car market. Already seeing signs of softening in the markets. Expect to ADM gone by January and incentives off sticker plus 0% loans to entice people to buy. Things are about to get desperate for salesmen.

You need to du to research online and make some calls. Bitching about a sale's person approaching you while you are on their lot, trying to do their job, is a reflection on you. Many sale's people do suck, but no all of them. Some of them actually give a crap and are helpful to work with.
You can definitely order, reserve a car through Honda. They can actually provide accurate timelines as well, and sell you on a car that can specifically be tracked, not just a name added to some list.

My favorite time to buy.
Bought an A5 4 weeks into the Covid lockdowns and got a screaming deal. Boat/Car dealers that you couldn't get on the phone 6 months ago are now blasting me with emails.

Intel's chip manufacturing plant in the US will be up and running by summer. This will ease the shortage for some manufacturers

Louisiana has shot it down 2 yrs in a row I think. Don't want to lose the auto lobby campaign money. It's a bullshite law.
Louisiana will pass it eventually. Even the baws and Bawettes financing F-250s for 1100 month for 84 months will have enough of the dealerships soon enough. Dealers are getting greedy and refusing to see they need to adapt or die.
The looming crash of the car market is going to be very enjoyable to watch.

True, but unless you are also buying from them you have to get 9-10% more for your vehicle just to make up for the loss of tax credit. And at that point you are having to deal with two dealerships rather than one. I would love to see the data, but I would imagine the average value from those companies is not over 10% higher than a dealership. Especially if you do research and go to the dealership with a reasonable idea of what your trade is worth.

We bought a Hyundai Santa Fe fro sterling in Lafayette. Was super easy and sales guy was absolutely great and not pushy or anything whatsoever
If you are interested in that call Leif Meche. Best car buying experience we’ve had.

I'll say when I was looking no one offered me more than 12k for my vehicle and the carfax came in at 17k. I almost pulled the trigger then but decided against it. Probably should have at the time but figured I'd wait and see what happens for next summer.

Values got absolutely insane for a while. I don't think they will ever be like that again, but the only way to really take advantage is if you didn't have to buy a replacement vehicle. If you were buying a replacement it was basically a wash in many cases due to market adjustments and lack of incentives.

I know of a good dealer that won’t give you the run around, but they only sell GMC and Buick.

Damn, I want to buy a corolla within the next 24 months. I guess I have to sign my soul over to Price Leblanc to get one by 2024 ?

I had the worst experience with Price Leblanc Lexus. They suck. Picked up my Bronco last week at Sandy Sansing Ford in Fairhope was not a bad experience at all
