SEC likely to adopt 9 game conference schedule...

Hope this comes to fruition. I’ve been in favor of a 9 game conference schedule for a while now...can’t stand the rent-a-wins. With the addition of OU & Texas, this is the right move.
“The league's athletic directors held their regularly scheduled meeting earlier this week. Administrators and coaches from multiple schools in the league said the feeling now is that the SEC will ultimately land at nine conference games with a 3-6 format when the new scheduling model is announced.”
"Going to nine games not only adds value for TV, but protects season-ticket sales, donations and College Football Playoff access for more teams," one SEC athletic director told ESPN.

I’d prefer an SEC-only schedule

If the CFP expands to 16 teams this is a no brainer. Get more quality football without quite the pressure on each game and no more LSU teams giving up after one loss.

If it’s the 3-6 config, who are our 3 standing opponents?
I’d prefer 8&4, Sun Belt Billy + his band of misfits at UF, and that gahhhdamn team from Tuscaloosa.
Who would others want?

Arkansas/ole miss

Hell, I'd be fine with a 10 game SEC schedule, with 2 OOC games that should be mandated to be Power 5 opponents.
Or just go to an all-SEC schedule, since we're about to be a 16-team conference with OU and TX.
Get rid of the nonsense cupcake games.

Texas A&M, Ole Miss, and Arkansas make the most sense.
The format really should be going to 10 SEC games though.

I would like 4-5 nine-game SEC schedule with
1. Gumpland
2. Aubie
3. Ole Mess
4. 8&4

Best part of this is 5 SEC home games every other year.
Of course, season ticket prices will go up, but I will gladly pay for another competitive game over a rent-a-win.

Worst part is 5 conference road games every other year.

Doesn’t matter what we “want”
It will be
Florida
aTm
Ole Miss
We won’t get Bama as a permanent opponent
They will have Tennessee and Auburn for sure. No way they give them LSU as well. Will probably be Missou, Vandy Kentucky or State

16 team playoff is just so ridiculous and totally finishes off the destruction of college football. Bama game won’t mean much when you can lose it every year plus 1-2 more games and still play for a title. But on the bright side LSU should have no problem making a 16 team playoff every single year

It’s a no brainer even if the CFP does not expand. With 16 teams in the SEC you have to play 9 conference games.

What’s the rationale with those schools? Implying Birmingham is trying to give them a cupcake?
Bc outside of State (and that “rivalry” ended 50 years ago), there’s zero connection with the other schools

They aren’t going to make any of the big 6 have 3 permanent big 6 rivals.
Bama will 100% have AU and Tennessee. So they will not get LSU, Florida or Georgia as #3. And they won’t get aTm, Texas or OU either.
So who else will the get as their #3 permanent game?

Why not? The permanent’s are supposed to have some relevance to each school, no? Not just be schedule fillers.
