PSA already has the stuff I would want on it minus an optic. But if it was strictly based on brand, I’d take the Ruger. You’ll win regardless of choice.

I love my PSA rifle. It should really well, and their customer service is solid

I have a PSA lower and a Spokes lower. The Spikes has a better finish, the PSA has a better quality of fit.
The Spikes lower has several issues being out of spec.

Don't get that Ruger. They torque the barrel nut on so hard it's insane. We snapped an upper in half at work getting one off. If you plan on changing the handguard or something eventually, you will regret it. Their MPR on the other hand is a great AR, especially for the money.

Appreciate the info. I was leaning PSA but wanted some better info and opinions than my own.

What are your expectations from this rifle purchase?

Just buy the parts and assemble. You get exactly what you want.
I'm constantly fiddling with mine anyway.

I have both, like them just the same. Ruger does have that sight post you cannot remove though. PSA looks a little more sleek.

My PSA barrel Nut was on pretty tight too. I built something to put into the chamber when I put it in the vice, but even as I was using a breaker bar I could see the chamber flexing. It shoots really straight so I guess it is alright, but man that thing was a bitch to get off

I want to be honest with you...... buy a lower and build. Main reason is. As soon as you buy one of these cookie cutter models you posted you are going to upgrade this, then that, change this, bigger that, dif color this, milled diff that. then you look back two years down the road and you got 3x the amount you would have if you would just build what you want from a lower up.

Bingo. The one's I built mean far more to me than the ones I bought.

Buy 2 lowers. Then you can buy what you want to add to them.

OP is looking for entry level. Get the PSA.

Both are solid rifles made by a company that will stand by them if something goes wrong.
If you decide Ruger look at the MPR 18" version. It has a rifle length gas system and a nice trigger upgrade and is a very smooth shooter.

I don't know much about Ruger but the QC for PSA is VERY inconsistent. It sounds like you're looking at entry level though so why not the M&P Sport 2?
Or slap all this together and have a better rifle than either one.
ballistic advantage barreled upper + charging handle $300
toolcraft nitride c158 bcg $70
moe handguard $30
magpul rear sight $35
aero complete lower $200

Yes, 100% just looking for a cheap entry level AR.
