I’ve always used Penn so I stick with Penn.
I’ve found that changing brands gives inconsistent results.
“Fast” for Penn isn’t the same as “fast” for daiwa jr other brand.

That's why I have all St Croix. It's not that I think they're the only good rod maker, it's that I know exactly what to expect from their specs. And I can get US made rods from them.
I did try a Halo KS II elite based on a rec here (it was on sale) and the tip broke on my first trip trying to get the worm off an underwater branch.
