LA fishing license

I just tried to buy a fishing license online. It would not let me until July 1, 2022. Said I already have that license still in effect. This is the first year I have seen this. Seems like a potential trap. I know I need to make a note and do it July 1st but this is unnecessary as we have always been able to renew prior to the old one expiring.

A potential trap? How often does green jeans check you?
Just put a reminder on your phone and move on.

Probably because the new licensing system goes into effect on July 1. Your license will be effective for a year from the day you purchase it and no longer on June 30th.

Thanks for clearing the change up. I have been checked on July 1st before but i am sure that is just a coincidence.

At least now it's going to be harder for them to pick a day to check every person on the water with the new "one year from purchase" expiration date.

I thought it went into effect on June 1st? I know it did for out of state, as I was able to buy 1 that actually expires a year later, rather than June 30th regardless of purchase date.

i suspect its because so much changed. its one year from date you buy it now and not a specific day. its also new prices on everything as well as lots of changes to things you used to need extra gear licenses for.
as mentioned, you just gotta make yourself a note to not forget about it

Georgia's system allows for auto-renew so you never have to worry about renewal. However, you do have to remember to keep your card numbers updated whenever your card expires or gets re-issued due to a stolen number.
LA, coming out with a brand new system, surely has this feature now.
Right?

I actually think it does.

They have streamlined some other things as well which were needed

Same here. I tried renewing a couple weeks ago (after June 1st) and I couldn't figure it out. They need to fix that. Guess we wait till July 1st

You fishing July 1st? Just wait until you go. If you fish July 5th instead of the 1st it will be good until next July 5th.

There are some programing problems on some of the new changes. The new law says that after June 1, you need the $15 WMA permit to go on a WMA, [if you don't have other licenses] but this permit can not be purchased until July 1.

Utah has this. As a result, I try to buy a new FL every year on my birthday. Makes it easy to remember.

This was clarified on the ldwf FB page about a week or so I think. Maybe the pamphlet was printed incorrectly. I will have to look back.
