decisions and we're screwed.
The Front Office has made some piss poor moves and some players just are not earning their pay. The performance on the field is nothing more than the byproduct of these asinine decisions.

For example:

Jason David...he's one of the highest paid DBs in the league (he's making $5.67 Mill this year)and he can't cover the weakest receiver on any opposing team. When he's cut, he'll be signed for less than 1/10 of what he's making now.

Charles Grant and Will Smith...These 2 are in the Top 10 paid DEs in the league. The Saints have over $120 million tied up with these clowns.

Reggie Bush...nice player to have, but he doesn't deserve to be the highest paid RB in the league.
Really can't fault the FO on this one too much; Bush was going to be picked 1st, or 2nd, by which ever team had these picks.

I've mentioned these 4 players because they represent about 35% of the entire salary cap. When a business, no matter what type of business, has 35% of its total resources committed to "under performing assets", that business will be on the verge of bankruptcy...the Saints are filing out the Chapter 7 paperwork every Sunday.

I can't argue with anything you said. I think the draft has been a hit and miss proposition for this staff....more miss than hit. And FA has been a disaster overall.

And I don't see the defense EVER playing with the kind of reckless disregard that other teams play with from time to time. The Skins brought it to us, Carolina brought it to us and neither side of the ball responded with anything. They just took it and got on the plane to come home. Kind of makes you wonder what kind of respect this team has for itself.

if yesterday didnt prove to you that reggie is worth the money he is getting than you need to just give up on making these goofy lists.

the number 2 offense in the league COMPLETELY shutdown once he was gone. he is the offensive catalyst, without him that O cant get going.

If you think Bush deserves to be the highest paid RB in the league, you're as "goofy" as the list that I make.

Coming into the game yesterday Bush lead the NFL in points scored. Who cares if he does it as a "traditional RB" and actually before he got hurt we was really doing well in the running game.

The Saints were already shut down before Reggie got hurt. They just didn't pick it up in the 2nd quarter.

Agree on Jason David.

Dont agree on Smith/Grant. That run D has been beastly this year even without Ellis and Thomas. can they perform better, yes, but its not like they have been putzing around on the field doing nothing as it seemed last year.

Absolutely disagree on Bush. What more do you want from the guy? To be a straight up the middle, pound the ball RB? Guess what? He's not. That is Deuce. Reggie is the break it to the outside, dump off receiver for first down back. He leads the NFL in TD's, and is also an excellent threat in the return game. We are getting what we paid for, and if you dont see it, you are blind. Not every RB is the between the tackles go to guy. We are using Bush correctly this year and it is paying off. This is HORRIBLE news that he is out for a few weeks because that just loses that extra dimension that the opposing defense would have to cover and think about all day. Reggie is both the ultimate weapon and ultimate distraction against defenses and I really dont know what you are smoking, but you might want to lay off of it for a while...

How about the good signings and moves the FO has made? Vilma? Ellis? McCray? Porter seems like a solid move so far even though he got hurt... Brees a few years ago? COLSTON? I hope you are just pissed off at the loss sunday to a divisional opponent who got their arse kicked a week earlier and were out for blood, or you are just a pessimist... I mean, Im SURE you could do a better job of player management.

The worst moves were the kickers- Carney & Mare going into the weekend had missed a kick this year. That would make the Saints 5-1 going into Carolina.

david will come of the books after this yr...

the real problem was getting suckered into paying both grant and smith...

wish we would've explored trading smith this offseason for a 2nd or late 1st...we get a better pass rush out of mccray and the run defense has been ok so far wiht vilma. more importatnly we have 60 mill to sure up other needs...
the mentality of this team is never progressive or forward looking...its complacency when there has never been a reason for them to be complacent

Actually, we were pretty much shut down the entire game, not just the 2nd half.

What about the last 4 games of last season when our offense and running back productivity actually got better without him?

Link? What's his cap hit this year? I'm pretty sure his contract was front-loaded.

it is

he's using his base salary this year, which happens to be pretty high. that doesn't mean much in the NFL

he's averaging like $4M/year or something. champ or hall are in the $8-10M/year range. big difference

Bill Polian and Randy Mueller were the only good front office/scout personnel that the NOLA Saints franchise have ever had.

AWFUL personnel decisions are what make the NOLA Saints what they are -- a pro sports franchise with a dismal W/L record and only two playoff wins.

I have doubts that it will ever change.

counterpoint--should we have an O that is so dependent on one, arguably injury-prone, player?

He's so not worth the money. He did have his best run of the year yesterday but breaking a single game punt return record doesn't make you a great running back.

I don't expect some Saints fans to ever give up on that but I'm used to it. I'll say this, they consistantly break my heart.
