Typing as I listen so forgive me for any grammatical errors please!

11:25 mark

“I have a vision of what LSU defensive line players should be, and I wanted to be sure I got that across to the boys”

-Schedule for Coach has been recruiting, meeting players, learning playbook, buying a house and back to recruiting

-People assumed he would stick with Lincoln Riley or end up with Venables at Oklahoma.

-November 27th Bedlam game next morning Lincoln announces he won't go to LSU. Lays the bomb he's going to USC. He takes the USC job to make sure he had one.

-Agent calls and asks if interested in talking to Coach Kelly. He didn't know Coach Kelly. After the conversation he was at peace and talked to Coach House. Talked to both Kelly and House and was offered the job.

-Always wanted to get into the SEC. He coached the Big 12 player of the year. He and Coach Kelly knew the feeling of losing recruits to the SEC. SEC always has the best defensive lineman.

-Coach Cain is the short guy in the defensive line room and he's the littlest on the field with them. Wife jokes he looks like Maason's little brother.

-Working on implementing his system. Guys are eager to learn.

-Emery Jones the incoming OL is a monster and has great size

-Tygee Hill just got in and is getting into summer conditioning. Quency is "gorgeous" . Greek God status sketching. Older guys are helping them out. Proud of the older group.

-Spring was about teaching tenacity and nastiness. Getting to the ball and hustle.

-Lots of visitors for the LSU camps. Camps are great for the younger kids in the 4th & 5th grade. They start to learn to love the game.

-Coach Cain isn't invovled in 7 on 7 and doesn't care about that. "Y'all go throw that ball somewher else"

-State of Louisiana produces high end talent but Coach Cain can also recruit nationally. At Oklahoma he knew he couldn't come into Louisiana if the kid had an LSU offer.

-Wants to keep kids in state. The kids he's going after nationally he has relationships with for years. Priority #1 is to win in state.

-Great relationship with Coach House. Coach Kelly preaches organization.

-Coach Cain's birthday today he's turning 43

-Team is in the workout room. They're taking care of business

-Dr Frank is on top of it with where the guys need to be with body mass and everything

-Transfer portal has changed everything even for High School. High Schools kids can't wait until November or December. Lots of July commits to make sure they have a spot.

-Some High Schools may have 8-10 D1 players but only 4 could sign because the staff can just hit the portal

-Mekhi Wingo from Missouri is a versatile player. He learned all 3 positions. Can't play Jack position because he's not quite big enough. Lots of trust in him.

-S.W.A.T. has gotten the team to come together. Coach Kelly's system to hold everyone accountable. It's embarrassing to finish last.

I, for one, appreciate your efforts and dedication to bringing legitimate and solid info to those of us that can’t listen.

Another strong contribution from CC!
Cheers to you.

We have not had a coach focused on this since Saban. It seems to be a trait of great coaches.

Crown, Cain had plans of following Riley to USC but then we swooped in? Is that what your summary is saying?

I don’t remember the timeline of when we hired him.

He was actually at USC for about two minutes. I could've written that better. Here's a snippet from an article.

quote:

Cain was at USC for a few minutes, basically, but he didn’t stick with Lincoln Riley longer than that. As our friends at LSU Tigers Wire noted — picking up on original reporting from Pete Thamel of Yahoo! Sports — Cain is off to Baton Rouge to join Brian Kelly’s staff.

It’s dizzying.

According to Pete Thamel, Cain will join the LSU staff as defensive line coach and run game coordinator.

Cain joined the Oklahoma Sooners staff in January of 2020 and was expected to leave Norman for Southern California. He joins the defensive staff under Matt House. Cain is known as a good recruiter and should bring more quarterback hunters to the Tigers defense.

Cain’s defensive line generated 33 sacks this season and 37 in 2020. According to 247Sports, Cain is credited with bringing three four-star edge players to the Sooners defense, led by Clayton Smith of Texas High (Texarkana). He has ties to the West Coast as well.
