Where I agree with most of your take, the knock on him in High school was he works only when he wants to work. So, the melt on this board should not have been what it was. I will take a 3 star willing to bust his arse over a questionable 5 star any day.

His course is actually tragic. The recruiting game got in his head. From a person with high potential, while he is obviously at fault, he didn’t get good leadership from his family, handlers and coaches along the way. I think this is an argument to stay close to home (LSU) and stay the course.

Whatever the cause, he has gone from high possibilities to the end of the road- without an education. Extremely sad!

This board used to be obsessed with this guy. Recruiting is a funny thing.

What’s even more of a “funny thing”
Is that there was a select fee of us who always said this kid was a basket case and lazy as frick and wouldn’t make it. And we got downvoted to hell and back

I saw t his coming with this guy....he takes off way too many plays when I watched him.

He does not love football, that's obvious.

Pays to remember...

A) at one point 247 had him ranked as the #1 recruit in all the land.

B) to 247's credit, they dropped him like a rock late in the process.

C) Many here were souring on him for lack of effort and taking plays off long before 247 dropped him however.

As is common, and not just here on tigerdroppings, many became an enamored with those stars and rankings. As is uncommon, many here specifically were sounding the alarms on Ish.

Let's put it this way, any recruit who doesn't want to put out to EARN a scholarship is the biggest red flag of all. Take it to heart- those who lack heart don't make it in Div I, much less the SEC. Orgeron decided he couldn't turn him around; Saban tried. If Saban can't and Orgeron (who for all his faults is one guy who will do everything possible for a potential star DT) isn't willing to try- it was a lost cause.

Amite doesn't put out as much talent as this board thinks. D Smith is pretty much the exception. From practices much smaller offensive linemen moved Sospher around just by being aggressive. Word was, Sospher is lazy. If he can't make it at Southeastern, maybe he should give the Greensburg trade school a shot at a skill or the truck driving academy in Hammond.

I have been telling the people on this board the same thing for years. Smith is the only player that has amounted to anything.
