The good news is that in 2009 Zachary should move up into the 5-A district with Central, Catholic, Woodlawn, etc. Live Oak, Denham and Walker should move into the 5-A district with Hammond and Ponchatoula and another team from that area. Live Oak should fare better in that District. Coach Schmitt realized the need for a tougher schedule and changed the annual scrimmage foe from Episcopal to Redemtorist, and two non-district foes from Pope John Paul and Albany (two games generally won) to Central and Ponchatoula. The Zachary game tomorrow night is scary for Live Oak and it's defense, but they "should" be ok the following two weeks against Glen Oaks and Belaire. Schmitt is gone now, but left the program much better than when he found it....a freshman team is now in place, so 25-35 kids a year will now play through the program vs. 12-13 in past years, the weight room has been doubled in size, etc. The new high school will be completed in about 3 yrs and moere people will continue moving to Live Oak, which will then have two feeder schools, not just one. Last year's team was 5-5 and this year's team should finish 5-4. Coach Bebee is a good man and will stay, which will also help. Bozeman was there for his kid, who got injured and missed his entire Sr. season and Coach Schmitt was there, because Katrina cost him his job at Buras, just until he could get a job back in Colorado, where he and his wife wanted to be. Coach Bebee also will publicize his players and promote them to colleges...for example, the QB and RB have there stats in the Advocate today because someone with the team took the time to report them. Publicizing the team and players has always lacked. There are two former players right now playing at Belhaven.

Not far from Hammond. Too many teams in BR 5-A district with Zachary also moving up to 5-A.

I agree, but it looks like Central, Catholic, Zachary, Scotlandville, Woodlawn. Then Live Oak, Denham, Walker, Hammond, Ponchatoula. Then Slidell, Covington, Mandeville, St. Paul, Fontainbleau. I'm probably leaving a team or two out as well. It would be nice to see Central in with the LP teams, but I don't think so.

there are a lot of good kids who have sweated there you know what's off at live oak, year round, for the last 10 yrs or so that i've lived in livingston parish and they have more success than walker or albany, but those kids have deserved better than 5 coaches in 9 or so yrs and deserved more attention thaof people generally just putting them down. some of the best athletes in the school every year don't even want to play.
