I'm not sure about the best prospect ever but I am willing to bet that he has the best quickness and agility and overall body movement than anyone over 7'0 ever.
His build doesn't give me "out with a foot injury for 5 months a time" kinda vibes. I think he can legit be pretty good with health based on his playstyle and his build.

Brether, he just made 18 in January. He’s been playing as a teenager against grown men & generally the coaches over there do not like to play young kids heavy minutes

When looking at European club stats, those are very good. Luka and Sengun had better stats while being slightly older so the next year will be huge for his stock, but the vast majority of players from Europe who go in the lottery are putting up much more pedestrian numbers at 19 or 20

This reminds me of when Bill Walton (as a commentator) was talking about the potential and skills of Shawn Bradley as a prospect. Yes, this is a 90s reference. And Bradley at 7'4" was skilled for his size but far from dominant

Right. The coaches over there heavily restrict young players they know will just go to the NBA. They play the 35 year old vets substantially more knowing they will be with the team for years. Its been a thing in Europe forever.

Luka didn’t have a problem putting up solid stats. His last year was by far his best year so maybe Victor can do something huge next year. I’m not sure, I just don’t see it. Yes he hasn’t gotten lots of minutes, but as I said even his 36 MPG stats don’t jump off the page other than his blocks. A guy averaging 7 and 4 right now against European dudes, I just don’t see how we can consider this guy the best prospect ever. Massive potential, yes but that’s what it is. Potential. Way too many question marks to throw around some terms that are getting thrown around with this guy. He will be a great player, he’s not the second coming of MJ.

He has unreal potential and skills, sure I’ll give you that. He averaged 7 and 4 last year, I don’t give a rip what some projections are. He will need a Giannis type of jump.
Posted on 5/10/22 at 10:08 am to TheTexasTiger7
Victor has put up better stats in the French first division at a younger age than Giannis did in the Greek Second division.
This doesn’t mean he is going to be better than Giannis, but it shows the difficulty of comparing Euro stats. And there are very few European prospects who put up 9 and 5 in a good European league at 17/18. Like you can fit those players on one hand.
As for minutes, European players play way less per game, including the veteran stars.
Luka is again the big exception and he played only 2-3 minutes more per game at the same age.

Perfectly normal based on history dude lol

He's much more athletic than I thought based on his picture

7'3" just screams health issues.
But when I watch him run and move, he still seems to have that weird movement that those really tall dudes have, which seems scary. That may not even make sense, I may not be explaining it well. But for example, I don't see that with Porzingis at the same height.
He's obviously a really good prospect, but there's just something with the way he moves relative to his height that seems off for me.

I think y’all are taking some of what I’m saying out of context. I have stated this guy has all the potential and skills to be good. Is he the greatest prospect that the league has ever seen? No, and that’s not even a debate.
I mean, Victor has been in the Euroleague for like 4 years now too. Plenty of time to adjust, he still hasn’t taken that next step up yet. What’s really the difference in comparing an 18 year old Luka’s season to a 17 year old Victor’s season? Can’t be that much of a difference. Maybe Wenbanyama will win the Euroleague MVP next season, and then we can have a discussion on it.
I mean hell, even before Luka’s major breakthrough MVP season in the Euroleague he averaged 2 years of like 12 5 and 4. Wenbanyama ain’t even doing those numbers right now. Just nowhere close right now. Yes he has elite potential and an elite skill set. But a lot of this is pure projection on this kid.

Yep, it's the law of diminishing returns. Even Durant at 6-10 has had his share of health issues. I just don't trust long lanky guys at that height to last long. Porzingis might be a better comparison for this guy.

You ever think about looking at Luka’s 17yr old season or no

Let's take Lebron James, arguably the best prospect to ever come out, at least over the past 20-30 years. There are a shite ton of dudes who had better high school stats than Lebron James.
