Patently false. Having gone to public schools, but having family and friends who attended Catholic, U-High, Episcopal, and Parkview, I find that social circles are still, well into my 30’s, at least, largely defined by what school you graduated from. Baton Rouge is extremely cliquey, and hs is one of the ways in which these cliques define themselves.

Patently True. I went to Woodlawn in Baton Rouge and graduated in 1993. My girlfriend of 11 years went to St Josephs Academy. People here may ask where you grew up and went to school but I can absolutely assure you we do not pass judgement. The private school cliques may exist but not the public school. And the private schools look less exclusive than they did 20 years ago.

It's a conversation starter with someone roughly my age because maybe we know some mutual people but I don't really give a shite otherwise. I don't think I've set foot on the campus of my HS since my last day SR year.

It’s not that serious. The hs’s aren’t west side story gangs, but cliques are very much influenced by hs. Some bars even have crowds that are more Catholic High folks verses others that are more Parkview. It’s silly, but it’s definitely true.
