How the frick does a General Officer get killed in war?
The biggest problem with the way the Russian military is structured comes from the old Soviet way of doing things. They have a lot of senior officers, junior officers have no autonomy over their commands, and NCOs are practically non-existent. So more senior ranking officers have to be closer to the front to practically heard poorly trained and equipped cats to an objective.

There's no lucrative MIC or Pentagon job waiting for them when they get home, so they actually have an incentive to be on the battlefield commanding troops.

One of their biggest issues early on was Russia was not using secured comms so Ukraine was able to intercept calls from Russian leaders, geolocate them and call in strikes. Russia will likely win due to sheer firepower, but tactically and scheme of maneuver and combined arms execution has been a complete failure.

My maniac lefty sister was bragging about the killing of Russian General and the sinking of their ship (she didn't even know about the other big one) and how embarrassed Putin has to be. She then tried to say the Russians were committing genocide! reeehhh
I just said that I don't believe either side or our media. War is bad, but we need to stay out of it.
She then did the party line, but Putin won't stop with Ukraine! He will invade Poland! (this after talking about how bad the Russians are doing in Ukraine) I was like Poland is a NATO country. Ukraine is not. It is different. She huffed off because she needs something from me and was able to check her usual insanity into her crazy vault.

She's not totally wrong. Keep an eye on Moldova. Russia is starting to talk about the oppressed ethnic Russians in the Transnitria region of Moldova. Vlad wants to continue to Odessa then complete grab the rest of the coastal region to the Moldovan border which puts Russian forces on the Transnistria side of Moldova.
It's already beginning. The first false flag incident:

This is a mix of the Russian doctrine of having weak NCOs and little trust in freedom of thought outside of the officer corp and poor communication technologies.
Now mix in drones that can be employed as mobile spotters that the Russian army has struggled combating against and you have upper echelon officers in a position they can be identified and then see a massive strike on the HQs.
I would be curious to see how many have died in transit vs while in a fixed location.
