Earls on Verot has decent boudin.
Was my favorite years ago. I feel like it’s gone downhill since the nephew took it over from the old guy years back.
Last time I grabbed a few links from there one morning, I swear a third of the rice was uncooked in the casing, and all the veggies were crunchy and in big chunks.

Kartchners far superior in every way

Paul's meat market in Ville Platte is goat classic boudin.
Billy's gets the best batter on their boudin balls but they leave a bunch of gristle chunks and shite in their boudin mix.

You dispute that boudin noir tastes better? Have you ever tried it?

ETA: While I don’t agree with you as it being the best, it’s just about impossible to find boudin that is less than fantastic in VP

I like it, but I agree 100% that it's not the best.

Nunu’s
Chops
Johnson bouconaire
Lagneaux’s on Ridge road
All better tasting than Billy’s
Kartchners cream cheese/japaleno is way better than billy cheese ball.
Bourque’s crackling on Johnston are the best in Lafayette. Always fresh.

I am far from an expert, and honestly rarely get their links, but those pepper Jack egg rolls and balls make it worth it.

Billy’s Boudin is overrated
Change my mind.
May be slightly overrated. It's good but there are better out there. Billy's smoked is really good and Ronnie's in Hammond is too, if we're just talking best smoked boudin. Links that are better overall (smoked or not) imo are Billeaud's, Legnon's, Kartchner's and Nunu's.

Solid runs there baw. Bourque's is my favorite too. Followed by Best Stop and Nunus.

Billy’s is very good.
Bourque’s is my favorite, but I haven’t eaten my way through VP in years. I need to run that trap line.

Yup. 4 years ago, Billy’s was hands down the best boudin I had ever had. I almost can’t eat it anymore as in the last 2-3 years, the links are so grisly. They must have changed their production technique since they blew up.

I don’t like judging boudin places off of their smoked boudin. Smoking can make subpar boudin taste good, Peto’s in Roanoke being Exhibit A of that.
I prefer to judge places by their regular simple boudin. No cheese. No smoke. No crawfish.

OP I can’t change you mind. I believe it’s a personal preference. I’ve eaten pretty much everyone’s favorites and honestly none of them were bad. If someone blindfolded me I couldn’t tell you whose is whose. What I could tell you is I would think some are a little better than others but none of them I would spit out and refuse to eat.
Occasionally I swing in to Ronnie’s on Florida avenue and buy some smoked boudin for lunch. In my opinion that stuff is pretty tasty. Scott area is not an area in my sales region. I spend more time in Baton Rouge. To me that Jerry Lee’s smoked on my grill turns out pretty tasty. Seems like everyone thinks you have to go to Scott to get good tasting boudin.
I will say this. Living in the Mobile area that Best Stop boudin that Rouses sales here in Daphne is just okay. It’s expensive and doesn’t taste as good as the Best Stop in Scott.

My top 3 are Bourque's, Janise's, & Nunu's. I've only had Mr. T's in Elton a couple times but it's been very good both times I've had it.

No that's fair. I understand what you're saying but I have no problem being able to separate the distinction. I'd give Billy's regular boudin a B on the grading scale with A++ being the best. I'd give his smoked an A.

I mean, yeah...if your point is to just judge regular boudin. So if a place has great crawfish boudin but shite regular boudin you won't go get a link of crawfish? What am I missing here?

I agree. It's too greasy!!
