Tonight’s going to get pretty heated with the council voting on the housing moratorium.

I’m curious where most of my St Tammany Baws and Bawettes stand on this subject of controversy.

Always funny to see the indignation of a bunch of post-Katrina transplants when they get their pitchforks out for overdevelopment and traffic as if they are not the direct cause of the problem.

There has to be something done to curb the traffic problem especially on 22 in the Madisonville area. But more than anything there has to have something done about the flooding particularly in the areas west of 21 near 1088 and 1077.

It used to be that when it rained heavt you had minimal flooding because the water could flow to the creeks and rivers. With dumb development that water gets trapped.

The only answer is another bridge and that aint happening. Hopefully the I-12 expansion provides some relief.

frick developers, if not another building of any kind was built it wouldn't hurt my feelings.

Nothing left in WST to build on anyway except wetlands.

They also need to ban putting in the pos clear cut neighborhoods. Go back with lot and tree minimums and green space minimums.

Kenner also has a council meeting tonight and a citizens group just discovered no pilings were installed under the box culverts of the new bridge on west esplanade that is only a 1/16 of a mile long but has taken twice as long as the Causeway to build.

Plus the mayor got whopped by 75% and I want to see his smug little face now.

I wish they would incorporate flood control with creating wider, deeper bayous that lead to the lake. Make these a blend of recreation, flood control, and real estate. Would be a win win in my opinion.

Can we at least start by only opening the bridge on the hour instead of every 30 mins? The boaters can wait or plan around it.

We need a hundred year rule. If your direct ancestors were not in St. Tammany prior to 1922, piss off.

I'll offer that the best way to save the Hwy 22 corridor and Madisonville is not to increase traffic capacity in that area, but just take the drawbridge out.

St Tammany is now North Metairie and will look like the Kenner/I10 corridor soon enough.

They should be widening that bridge an even extra two lanes on either side and put a service road on both sides. Would be huge. But of course they blew it with little ability to think ahead.

Traffic this morning was horrible. Can’t get anywhere. The developers can pound sand. Plenty of land out in Robert and Lacombe. No need to keep squeezing madisonville and covington.

Well, St Tammany is not the first parish to go through this…

It started in Jefferson and St Bernard in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’S… This isn’t something new…
