War is too imporat to be left to politicians.....
Nuclear Combat toe to toe with the ruskies...
The Ruskie talks big, but frankly we think he's short of knowhow....
Shoot A Fella could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff...
Have you ever seen a Commie drink a glass of water?

Gentlemen, there’s no fighting in the war room.

I can no longer sit back and allow communist infiltration, communist indoctrination, communist subversion, and the international communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids

Then watch Fail-Safe, which came out the same year, where President Henry Fonda nukes New York to placate the Russkies. It's not a comedy.

I have been jonesing to watch it the last week or so, but for the life of me, I can't find my Blu-ray. I even went to my mom's and looked through my stuff there with no luck. I ordered a copy when that search turned up fruitless. Criterion edition is $21 on Amazon

If we could convince him to do San Fran, Chicago or Seattle, I might be willing to go along...

Yeah. This has the possibility of being my favorite thread all year. Sadly, this movie and The Mouse that Roared were part of an early and confusing foundation of my political outlook.

I've seen Dr. Strangelove well over 100 times. Heck I even quoted it in a paper I wrote for Air Force ROTC at the Citadel.
When I was in Grad school I asked this young lady on a date for Friday night. She told me she was taking a film class and they had to watching their weekly movie Friday nights so she couldn't. So I asked her what movie they were watch and she said "Dr. Strangelove." Well I told her to ask her professor if I could attend the screening with the class. He said yes so that was our date.
They showed the movie in a big room and all the students brought pillows, blankets and sleeping bags and crashed on the floor. Well, I was working long hours on my research so about 1/3 the way thru the movie, I fell asleep. After it was over, I woke up to the students discussing it with the professor. He and I got in this protracted and in depth discussion about the nuance of several characters in the movie. All the students were super confused about who was the guy who'd never been to class and slept thru the movie and was bringing up points none of them ever thought of. It was a fun night.

Definitely one of my all time favorites. If you want a more serious version watch "Fail Safe" also from 1964.

On the Beach another serious offering. I like Dr. Strangelove, though.

Robert “Strange” McNamara who was the US Sec of Defense was Stanley Kubrik’s influence and inspiration for the film. The film my be satirical but it’s actually pretty damned accurate and McNamara was worried about a bad seed in the US military chain of command triggering an all out war.

Mr. President, there are one or two points to make, if I may..
His facial expressions when he gets to point 5 always get me
