Who Dey?

Although LSU fans love seeing Joe Burrow, Jamar Chase, and the rest of the Cincinnati Bengals get to the AFC championship, there is a number of them who are also Saints fans. Are LSU/Saints fans supporting this monstrosity of a chant “Who Dey”, that the people of Cincinnati have been trying to coin for years? Saints fans battle with this dilemma because the beloved vernacular of the New Orleans Saints, has had its fans chanting “Who Dat” for years.

Will I root for Joe Burrow and Chase over Rams, Bucs, Packers, Niners, Titans, Chiefs, and less degree Bills...

Was nice cheering for a team today that didn’t break my heart in the playoffs

I hated hearing Cincinnati fans chant Who Dey" in 1988 when I first heard it, but Cincinnati actually started using "Who Dey" before Saints fans started using "Who Dat". They started using it in 1981, the first year they made it to the Super Bowl. It was copied from some local commercial up there. They didn't steal Who Dat from the Saints.

I just looked into this. It appears Who Dat predates Who Dey.

Yeah, if you go back to Southern and/or St Aug or whoever really started it. Saints fans didn't start using Who Dat until 1983 when they came close to making the playoffs that year. Not sure what you found, but I'm pretty sure Saints fans were not chanting Who Dat before 1981.

I just read the history of Who Dat.

You mean the fans were asking who was going to beat them in the years they could only win 3-4 games?
I always thought it was ridiculous & ironic, that a team that has a historically terrible record has a chant asking who’s going to beat them. Hell, they still have a losing record against majority of the league

That's corny, but you have to realize the Saints ripped off Who Dat from the the 1980-81 LSU basketball team.

Wrong, not everything was invented by lswho..
NEW ORLEANS — In New Orleans -- there’s a chant no good Saints fan could ever forget. The origin of the term “Who Dat” can be traced back more than 160 years. In athletics, the chant was used at Southern University in 1960s and later at St. Augustine High School. In 1983, however, the chant become etched in New Orleans Saints history with a simple song and a music video.

Exactly what ive been saying since the day the Bengals drafted Joe…. The ‘Who Dey’ stupidity is the only thing i predicted would keep me from going all in on the Bengals when they arent playing the Saints, and i was right.. it’s so freaking irritating .
