This.
I think Ron Franklin was calling SEC games on Saturday nights even in the 80s. He's the GOAT.

Am I tripping or do I remember him reporting on top of Epcot or some other similar looking building in Omaha?

I thought Mike Tirico and Mike Mayock were awesome on NBC doing ND games. Also thought Tom Hammond was great.

Harry Caray and Steve Stone.

a little off topic but want to give a tip of the cap to Dave Neal. He has been calling SEC games since the mid 90s. When he hangs it up he will have called SEC games for 40 years. His voice will always bring back fond memories of watching all those Jefferson Pilot/Raycom 11am games while out tailgating at LSU with my dad. Oh, and that Bluegrass Miracle game too.

Cosell-Meredith-Gifford was fun at times. Everyone hated Howard and Dandy Don had his moments.
Cosell is far and away the goat. No one had a vocabulary like him. He was THE voice of Monday Night Football. The into and half-time high lights with music in the background and Cosell narrating was beyond awesome.
For those who didn't grow up in the 70's, they won't be able to appreciate just how great he was. His interviews with Ali and Frazier were must see tv. He was world renown in an era without the internet or ESPN.

CBS Golf crew pre-Faldo
Dick Enberg of tennis calls
Even though he had lost his fastball at that point, Keith Jackson calling the SC-Texas Rose Bowl was as good as it gets

They were the best. As far as new commentators go, Greg Olsen is gonna be a star.

Was always a fan of Mike Patrick. Seemed like he could do any sport. Great voice

Disagree completely. Watched the game when ESPN played it again during the early part of the Virus and Jackson was meh.

His boxing commentary was outstanding as well. You knew it was a big fight when Cosell was calling it on a Saturday afternoon Wide World of Sports broadcast.
Down goes Frazier! Down goes Frazier!

You just holding a grudge against the guy because on 2003 he called USC the national championship……….
Let it go…….
Let it go…….

na, I just think his call was vastly overrated on the USC-Texas rose bowl. Don't really care about 2003
