No LSU can only afford to buy out coaches for 26.5 million and pay a new coach’s contract at &100,000,000.
Then can only pay a Women’s Basketball Coach $2,500,000.00 to coach a program which loses over 5 million per year.
Then can pay a Baseball Coach 1.5 million.
Of course LSU can afford whatever needed. Lol.

I think the NIL situation among others is why we hired Kelly instead of a younger, less experienced coach. With many of the very highly ranked players getting big NIL money before they have actually proved themselves, we had to have a very experienced coach that is going to hold these players accountable and not just play them because a large booster has paid them allot of money.

As indicated, we have lots of Tards who think that because we have some wealthy donors, we have unlimited resources…
No school has unlimited resources.
And yes, LSU has money enough to play with the big boys. With NIL rollout, this was a delicate time to have a coaching change, so we’re behind the ball… for now. But you’re either kidding yourself or a negatiger if you think LSU can’t play ball with the best.

now they can disguise these amounts given by big money boosters as tax-deductable dontations to a nonprofit
No they can't. NIL money has to be paid directly to the athlete.

Has nothing to do with LSU and everything to do with alumni and donors.
You have to wonder how many of those dudes in LA even agree with the idea of these guys getting paid in the first place
But, yeah. I’m pretty stunned at LSU getting dunked on with it considering how far ahead they were.

To make matters worse, now they can disguise these amounts given by big money boosters as tax-deductable dontations to a nonprofit. So now we have big money tech and oil alumni that can use this as a tax writeoff on top of everything elss.
The money for NIL does not come from the school or any foundation associated with the school. The money is directly from the corporation to the players for a service. So it is not a donation and it is not tax deductible.

We've been doing it for decades. Players have always gotten paid. You think they came to lsu for free when bama and the like offered big $?
I don’t think they were being paid the amount players are getting now. Do you really think that?
And if we can’t compete in this era, boy did we waste a lot of money on a coach.

When I say “school” I include the booster network. Only the NCAA is stupid or oblivious enough to think the schools aren’t directing these payments

Look LSU will be fine. What some of you don’t seem to understand is NIL was not the problem.
NIL or no NIL, LSU had a lame duck coaching staff for 3 months during prime recruiting season. Offering NIL to players who don’t know who the Head Coach, OC, DC, and position coaches are is a problem.
It is just that simple.

At the top no but I would bet that 90 percent of the players are getting roughly what they already were.

aTm has 33 billion in endowments
Lsu has 500 million in endowments
Look who has the number one recruiting class the first year NIL hits... its not an accident.
If the endowment money can be funneled to local advertisers we will struggle to compete.

After 2022 It will go back to where they can still only sign 25 recruits are transfers a year so as it always has been you just need to be in the top 5 you don’t necessarily have to have the number one class.

First A&M’s endowment is approximately
12 billion. Stop making crap up.
Endowments are for specific Academic purposes. They are not for athletics.
LSU Athletics are independent from Academic Funds and I seriously doubt anyone outside of the Administration and Scott Woodward knows how much is available but based on the financial commitment for coaching changes and Football Facilities in just the past 2 years it is obvious there is serious commitment from Major Donors. The sky is not falling.

Considering the top boosters, I suspect every top-half Power-5 school has enough money among boosters and alumni (not always the same people) to compete evenly in NIL deals.
It comes down to willpower.
Right now, it looks like A&M is dominant, but only because their boosters were more organized and more willing to spend money right now. Is that going to continue? I'm not so sure.
Consider Bo Nix. Right as NIL started, he signed a deal with Milo's Tea. In the six months since then, living in Montgomery, I've seen exactly 0 ads where Nix is hawking sweet tea. Nothing. Now, he's headed to Oregon, not exactly the hotbed for southern sweet tea.
From an economic stand-point, the money Nix got was wasted by Milo's. Sure, they got some props for supporting the QB at a school very important to their market. But, their money never generated advertisements and didn't ensure their spokesman stayed at that same school.
Somewhere along the line, the businessmen involved will figure out the ROI for NIL won't be as great as they originally thought, and the amount of money on the table will stabilize to a "what are we willing to pay" level. Sure, you will still see some natural players, like sporting goods stores like Tiger Mania or Bama Fever-Tiger Pride ponying out dollars, because having players doing signing sessions at their stores improves their bottom line. But, you're not likely to see the ridiculous deals we see now in recruiting.
More likely is that businesses will provide a relatively small amount during recruiting, and then when a player separates himself, the deals will roll in.
Well, that's my prediction anyway.

We will never know this, but I can't imagine boosters are more willing to spend now than they where over the past few years.

I couldn't respectfully disagree anymore. We've tried the trash coach and good recruiting class the last two seasons. It resulted in a .500 record. Coaching absolutely still matters regardless of how much talent. You saw bama slap Georgia around and they'll do it again in January. Jimbo will perpetually be an 8-4 to 10-2 coach

We were paying a trash coach eight million dollars a year.
Respectfully, we were paying too much for (trash) coaching no matter how you look at it.
