Watching “catch a killer” on netflix and my wife ask this. My understanding has always been about 5 or 6 dozen through the 70s and 80s, (They discuss this on Mind hunters etc, I think the original source was the first serial killer that starting working with the FBIs profile unit from california, can’t remember his name)
I would assume with DNA etc that number would be less now but what do you have ?
Also, why so many big serial killer from Washington Oregon area?
Green River, Ted Bundy, Smiley Face etc

I don't know about statistics but we had two in Baton Rouge at the same time back in the day. Gillis and Lee

Nice try, Mr. FBI man

There would be a lot fewer if there were more heroes like Shadowvision who stopped the killer in Arkansas.

Who knows. The best ones don’t get caught.

I remember them well. I used to go to that place way out in the bayou on Sunday nights for their cold arse beer and jambalaya, which was free back then. I can’t remember the damn name of it but i saw him there many times

'bout 350
Honestly though, I have no idea but I'm sure the number is higher than I'd expect.

Old looking website but still interesting, saying five killers.
Baton Rouge Serial Killers
Eta. You talking about the Alligator Bayou Bar?

In fact Lee is one of at least five serial killers who have operated in the area independently of each other since 1995. The others include Sean Vincent Gillis, Jefferey Guillory and Ronald Dominique (who preyed exclusively in gay men). The fifth, named “Jennings killer” after the district (just south of Baton Rouge) his victims come from, has been linked to the murders of at least eight women and remains unidentified and at large.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there were at least one or two active in this state that haven’t been linked yet.
Well that's an easy number to agree with when there's still 8 murders in Jennings unsolved

Fairly uncomfortable times to be a mid 20s white guy driving around in white pickup.

We all know who’s really responsible for those murders though.
