ROYOMARTIN, ROY O. MARTIN III AND KATHY MARTIN GIVE $3.5 MILLION TO ACHIEVE TOP CAPITAL PRIORITIES ON THREE LSU CAMPUSES

BATON ROUGE – Martin Sustainable Resources L.L.C. and Martco L.L.C. d.b.a. RoyOMartin and LSU alumni Roy O. Martin III and Kathy Kilpatrick Martin have committed $3.5 million to advance top capital priorities on three LSU campuses: LSU of Alexandria’s Student Success Center, the LSU Interdisciplinary Science Building on the flagship campus in Baton Rouge and LSU Health Shreveport’s Center for Medical Education.
“This gift will provide foundational support for three of our top capital priorities,” said LSU President William F. Tate IV. “The LSU of Alexandria Student Success Center, LSU Interdisciplinary Science Building and LSU Health Shreveport Center for Medical Education are critical to closing infrastructure gaps, positioning LSU to achieve ambitious goals in the areas of student and faculty recruitment, research and community impact. The Martins’ support of LSU is longstanding and broad, and we are grateful for their exemplary commitment to advancing LSU as a family of interconnected campuses.”
Martin Sustainable Resources L.L.C. and Martco L.L.C. d.b.a. RoyOMartin, the premier manufacturer of wood products in the Gulf South, has committed $2 million to complete funding for the LSUA Student Success Center, which is the campus’s top Fierce for the Future Campaign priority. The $10 million center, slated to break ground in spring 2022, will be a central hub for student services that will serve as a front door to the university while ensuring that each LSUA student receives the level of individual support needed for success.

Should be using that 3.5 million to buy us an offensive line.

They can afford it. Their OSB mill in Oakdale is knocking down over a $1MM a day and has been for the past year or more.

Love have everyone thinks that because they are rich, they can afford it, nobody's business...very generous gift, and Roy is next Chair of TAF, he will do a great job with that.

Thanks for the money, Roy, but I want to know why does LSU of Alexandria even exist.
Wasting State resources that should be used on the flagship.

I downvoted as well. Just wanted to vocalize it.

Pretty sure he is or at least used to be the largest land owner in the state
ETA: That was Roy Jr, the father, but guessing the III inherited it all

It’s a message board, I’d rather laugh, Susan.

Actually with the new chancellor at LSUA they have had some major improvements on campus and have made huge strides in the value of the degree. Roy O' and LSUA Foundation has been a major contributor to the growth on the campus since they do not get much funding from the state. It serves a pretty good purpose for proving education in that area. Better than Southern, SUNO, UNO, Grambling, Southern on Shreveport.

Every time I see this name, I’ll think of how they logged our family hunting lease last year after about 40 years. No more clear bottoms and hardwood to hunt :wahh:

Good people. I graduated from the MBA program with one of the younger Martin boys. Solid guy and very humble given his eventual inheritance.

Why is he wasting money on capital improvements when we are scrambling for NIL money.? Tell Martin to get his head out of his arse.

I guess when they aren't taking grandma's property at tax sale. If you have property adjacent to them, just watch where they spray their yellow paint.
